PNC pictures ’’Jhankaar Beats’’, produced by Pritish Nandy and directed by Sujoy Ghosh stars Sanjay Suri, Juhi Chawla, Rahul Bose, Rinke Khanna, Shayan Munshi and Riya Sen.We have been watching its trailors on television, since a long time and finally it has released.Mostly, the films which are delayed do not seem to be attractive, and so they prove to be a box-office disaster.Jhankaar Beats is an attractive film because of its unusual title and Juhi Chawla`s comeback after a long time.If a film is entertaining, it has chances at the box-office.So here we have a very entertaining and colourful film Jhankaar Beats.
THE CHARACTERS AND THE PERFORMANCES:
1.Deep(Sanjay Suri):Deep is a loving and a caring husband.He is happily married and loves his wife.Since two years he has been trying to win the Jhankaar Beats contest with his friend but has never won.This year, he has promised himself that he will definitely win.His other motto is to excel in his work as well, and that is to, promote a condom company.Sanjay Suri is maturing as an actor.First films like Filhaal and Dil Vil Pyar Vyar proved that he can act and now Jhankaar Beats has proved that he is an excellent performer.Sanjay has been given alot of scope to perform and he has done full justice to it.
2.Shanti(Juhi Chawla):The coolest wife anyone can have is Shanti.She is a happy-go-lucky person and tries that her neighbour Nicki would not get divorced to her husband.She wants everyone to live in peace and that is why her name is Shanti.Juhi Chawla has been seen after a long time but she, even today is as fresh and gorgeous as much as she was before.The role of Shanti looks so realistic and Juhi Chawla through her excellent performance makes the viewer fall in love with the character of Shanti.
3.Rishi(Rahul Bose):Rishi is Deep`s best friend and is now getting divorced to his wife Nicki.He doesn`t want to leave Nicki but Nicki is not ready to stay with him, anymore.Now, his motto is, that along with Deep, he would win the Jhankaar Beats contest.Rahul Bose has mostly acted in art films like Split Wide Open and now in a commercial film also he has excelled.He is a complete natural and a confident performer.He is really COOL and in funny scenes he is really amazing!
4.Nicki(Rinke Khanna):Nicki, who once loved Rishi, now wants to get divorce because she thinks that Rishi does not spend enough time with her and is always practicing for the Jhankaar Beats contest.She doesn`t like to see him losing every year and now she cannot have enough of Rishi.Rinke Khanna is another great performer with crisp dialogue delivery and excellent face expressions.However, she is not given enough scope to perform, especially in the second half, she gets lost somewhere.
5.Neel(Shayan Munshi):Neel, is a young boy and is the son of Rishi`s and Deep`s boss.His father wants Neel to make a decision about his marriage, as soon as possible.Neel`s father had given him two months to think and now his father has given him only 1 month to think but what can Neel do because he loves Preeti and Preeti doesn`t even give him a look.Shayan Munshi makes a confident debut and acts ably but he should work on his overall appearance.
6.Preeti(Riya Sen):Preeti is a no nonsense kind of a girl.Every Sunday, she goes to a church.She is looking for her Mr.Right but doesn`t even give a look to Neel, who wants to marry her.Riya Sen should learn acting.I`m not against her but everyone, while watching this film will say, that she should do something about her acting.Her dialogue delivery is so poor that, she cannot register an impact.She is OKAY for music videos but NOT for a film.She speaks like Daisy Duck and looks like a seed.Seriously, she is so small that one cannot feel her presence.
THE STORY:
Deep and Shanti are a happily married couple and have a daughter, Muskaan.Shanti is pregnant again and to visit her, Shanti`s mother is coming to stay at her place.Now, this is a big problem for Deep because his mother-in-law irritates him alot.
Rishi and Nicki once loved each other and got married.Now, Nicki wants divorce and wants Rishi to leave the house.Yes!We have seen in films that wives leave the home but here the husband leaves the home because Nicki is the BOSS.
Neel loves Preeti but Preeti doesn`t care about him because she means business.She is involved in her own work, all the time.Neel dies after Preeti but will he get Preeti.
Rishi and Deep want to win the Jhankaar Beats contest, and they have been losing in it.This time, Neel also joins them.Will they win this time?
THE WORK OF THE CREW:
Sujoy Ghosh`s direction is just fine.He is not an excellent director because there are no emotions.I don`t mean that there should have been rona-dhona and all that but there should have been some emotions, more mature than the routine Bollywood stuff.However, the comedy scenes are really very funny and entertaining.At least, the director has made an entertaining film.Screenplay is weak and everything seems to be here and there.Sometimes you feel that you have skipped to another reel.Because of the screenplay, the film isn`t gripping.Dwarrak Warrier, who gave the sound effects of Company is back again with amazing sound effects, as usual.A highlight of the movie!Milap Zaveri`s dialogues are great especially in the comedy scenes but the word condom is used very often.Also, the dialogues in the most serious scenes are in English, which should have been in Hindi but for young people, it will look cool.Mazhar Kamran`s cinematography is of top class with bright colours and surroundings.Vishal-Shehkar`s music is amazing, especially Tu Aashiqui Hai, Suno Na and Tera Muskuraana.
ON THE WHOLE:
Jhankaar Beats is a true entertainer.The film has a fresh look, beautiful songs, excellent performances from Sanjay Suri, Juhi Chawla and Rahul Bose and some rib-tickling scenes.R.D Burman`s fans will also love this film because he has been given alot of hype.If you want to be entertained, catch out this film!
