How does one spoil a weekend. Wait in a long Q outside multiplex on Saturday for advance booking and watch Jhoom barabar Jhoom on Sunday. A perfect way to spoil your weekend….
Hopes were certainly high from this multi-starrer Yash raj movie. The movie begins with the(now) popular title track. Amitabh in his unusual getup dances to catchy song. The location looks like some Airport but turns out to be a busy station in London.
And then begins the story(?) with entry of Abhishek B. He meets up with pretty gal Preety Zinta. Both are there to receive their beloved on board a delayed train from Birmingham. Rest is(his)story. The movie, supposed to be a musical comedy rarely make audience laugh. After initial half hour or so(may be earlier) you start losing interest on what is going on the screen. I tried my level best to find something interesting in the movie but failed miserably.
And post interval the torture begins. The characters ensure that you are bored till end. There is a stupid dance competition “Jharoka” which lasts for a good 15 minutes. On the acting front there isn’t much scope as there are very few scenarios where actors get a chance to display their talent. I guess Amitabh must have struck a deal these days … Sign Abhishek for the movie and he will perform for free. He is absolutely wasted. With due respect he should stop doing such petty roles.
The only saving grace for the movie is brilliant cinematography and some good European locations. The music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy is decent(not great).
A movie isn’t just stars dancing in exotic locations. It could have been much better that what it has turned out. In short this movie can be easily avoided.
