What is wrong with Jism?

We are a hypocrotic lot and we basically hate change, no wonder Karan Johars , Devdas flourish! Anyone trying anything new or deviating a bit from the routine is bound to recieve flak and some have capitialised on this negativity .Same applies to this movie.I thought this was a decent movie by bollywood standards, it had a pretty decent storyline especially the ending , good BOLD acting , songs that blended with the flow of the movie and I for one found this to be a very exciting movie all through!

The main focus of bitching was about Bipasha and the amount of skin shown in the movie.Whatever she did was inline with her role in the movie and nothing seemed out of place and I was happy to see our Indian movies coming out of age and part of mainstream cinema . I fail to understand how many of us can go ga-ga over Sharon Stone to be a class actress and Basic Instinct to be a top-notch erotic thriller(just an example) and so on , but the same thing enacted by an Indian actress will be seen as bitchish or vulgar or whatever, eventhough its a different case that those who blasted it will be the ones who would have watched it over and over again , else how can this movie be the sole hit this year in the box-office inspite of not so encouraging reviews everywhere in the media? I thought Bipasha oozed style, class and carried of her role convincingly with panache , poise and confidence. How many times have we seen our actors/actress kissing like a first time kid on the block making the whole scene embrassing or our actress revealing their thunder thighs(Kajol, Manisha) in the name of seductiveness thereby putting off the audience or our cameras being shy to capture the right moods and angles? So it is just not the skin that can make a movie erotic but it is the whole treatment of the movie and in this aspect the Bhatts have handled the movie with maturity and nothing seemed sleazy but yes , a wee bit erotic .

Coming to the story eventhough there were quite a few flaws and unanswered questions, the central theme and the twists kept the audience engrossed right through the movie and definitely above average stuff by bollywood standards.Acting wise, John Abraham has that camera presence but acting was a bit too tepid and seems to have a hangover of his work on the ramp, but is more accpetable/bearable than either ShahRukh or some typical filmi Bollywood actor filling up the role.Full credit to all the side actors especially the inspector friend .Photography and camera work was breathtaking, I never knew Pondicherry was so hot , move over Goa , this is my new sought after destination! You see , we dont need French Riviera and big budgets to make a movie look appealing, it is there just right here , but how can we convince our Yash Chopras ?
