Only film Amir Khan had to his credit those days was Qiyamat se Qiyamat tak, so I was curious what this film offered and I saw it 3 or 4 times as the bindas attitude of school going kids, their rivalries and the tensions, temptations and posing were very reflective of those times.
It was an image of times, college and schools were like that, these are times when Internet was not so rampant, these are times when India was just opening up and the faces of all actors were new and very fresh and raw to our eyes we were not exposed to these fine actors. A superb actor who went on to do many successful films after this film, even today he is a force to reckon with, he has become a producer and director and a well established actor, the steam this film generated has bought him unto times of today.
The attitude he displayed in this film, Amir Khan till today is living and replicating the same attitudes in many of his recent films and many of his ads and his career foundation is based on this film, it’s a building block of Amir Khan’s film career. She was of charming face and very girl like looks, she looked so young in this film, it was a topic of discussion among my friends that this girl is 16 or some used to say no she is just 15, the dimples, the smile, the dip in the chin everything was so fresh in those days. Till today I am sure she is active professionally in Television and she made many movies against many established heroes after this film success. So Ayesha Jhulka owes a lot to this film. Mamik Vikram and Betaal, a very loved and admired Vikram among little children, they see him on screen and shout, this is Vikram , and it was an introduction in films for him. No other actor doing big brother of a hero role got so much of mileage in Indian Film or Television history.
I still relate his face to the elder brother of Amir Khan in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander; this is true of many of my friends they used to always say remember this actor the elder brother of Amir Khan. No doubt the acting and his charming face are his own assets but still this film made him what he is today. Pooja Bedi She was introduced in this film as the daughter of Protima Bedi and Kabir Bedi, no doubt she did good acting and she has very good looks, this girl did not profit as much as other actors from this film, methinks it is because of the advertisement she did for condoms immediately after this film. It featured some revealing picture of this girl in that ad which was not taken nicely by basically shy people of India. But still Pooja Bedi has many television assignments.
Deepak Tijori As always this actor is everywhere because of his screen presence and his acting talent, no film can give anything to this actor which he does not deserve or which he already has in him. This actor was and is talented from day one in this SHOWBIZ; he puts his heart and head in all his jobs. Deepak Tijori is himself before and after this film. Every one who contributed in making of this film singers, actors, director, producer, musicians benefited immensely for the success of this film. I remember in our city all theaters were houseful for many days; I had to purchase tickets in black to see this the first time. I will only comment on the story being like ’’ Silver Dream Racer’’ David Essex, but this film was better and more enjoyable because of the above actors
