I watched this movie as soon as it was released in 2001 and my memories of this movie got refreshed when I rewatched this in one of the movie channels over the weekend. This really forced me to write a review on this superb comedy movie.

David Dhawan known for his slipshod comedy is the undisputed king of directing these kind of real comedy films. After the hit pair of Govinda and Sanjay Dutt who performed excellently ’’Haseena Maan Jayegi’’, this movie is even better than ’’Haseena Maan Jayegi’’. The hackneyed jokes and corny pranks still form the backbone of his main characters.
The story revolves around two small time crooks Jay and Veeru who are out to make quick money. They are inspired by the friendship of Amitabh and Dharmendra in Sholay movie and thus name themselves as Jay and Veeru (names of Amitabh and Dharmendra in Sholay). They are potrayed as punjabi calling each other as ’’Jay paaji’’ and ’’Veeru paaji’’. Accidently Rajat Bedi the brother of a don (Ashish Vidyarthi) gets killed in a tiff with Jay and Veeru, for which the big brother wants the duo to be killed. On the other hand Shakti Kapoor (the cop) also wants the duo to be behind bars. With no choice left, the duo flee Mumbai.
Veeru enters Tina’s compartment while trying to evade a ticket collector, while Jay stumbles upon a NRI luggage and impersonates as its owner. On the train reaching Goa, they are welcomed by a group of people mistaken to be the NRIs. The duo think that they would ransack the house and thus make some quick money.
The hosts in Goa is the eldest brother Mr. Rai (Anupam Kher) and two younger brothers and their families. The motherless child is Monica Bedi whose father is Mr. Rai. When they the duo plan to ransack the house they find out that Mr. Rai is himself in a spot of bother (financially). The brothers ask for their share of the money and refuse to cooperate in reviving the ailing business. Mr. Rai suffers a major heart attack, after which the duo help the family is every way. They manage to revive the business and also help in uniting the brothers.
The whole story is very hilarious which make you sit through the two and half hours. Govinda has stolen the shown with his comic performance with Sanjay Dutt trying to keep pace with him. The actresses Monica Bedi (pairing with Sanjay Dutt) and Twinkle Khanna had not much acting and lesser said better about them!!!! The music composed by Anand Raj Anand and Himesh Reshammiya has few foot tapping numbers like ’’Andae Ka Funda’’.
