Joggers Park - As refreshing as the morning jog

A very modern film. A total new perspective to love, attachment, bonding and relationship. Its so true love is blind and this four-letter word has a universal appeal. Love bars no age, status, caste, color, creed, religion or any other bonding, love is simple and is unique. Jogger’s Park brought out the complexities of love and relationships with a very small crew of actors, crisp dialogues, catchy music in a very professional way that should spark on a new genre of films.

A young man of 60 years being attracted to a bubbly young model is a perception with a difference. A very unlike Hindi film concept has been dealt in a very passionate manner. Yes an old man, may have feelings for a young woman, it may be love, attraction, passion, obsession or any other mixed feeling, but it is not necessary that every relationship should end in a wed-lock people can be just friends, good friends.

The Crew: A assembly of very professional artists

Producers: Mukta Arts Ltd.

Director: Anant Balani

Music: Tabun Sutradhar

Cast: Main

Victor Bennerjee as Retired Judge Jyotin Prasad Chatterjee (JC)

Perizaad Zorabian as Jenny

and very matured performances from the rest of the crew. The acting capacities of the cast well exploited.

The Story:

Jogger’s Park a wonderful place for going for a morning jog, walk, exercise and to keep one’s mind, body and soul healthy and young. Amidst this wonderful environment a unique relationship blooms between an elderly man and a young lady. The story told in brief -

Detachment:

A celebrity Judge in Mumbai retires from 40 years of service. His profession had kept him aloof and indifferent from the society and has made him unsociable who seldom befriends with people keep aside youngsters. In spite of his very demanding career he has been quite attached to his family and he is the prime possession for his family who look up to him with immense honour After his retirement on an universal family appeal he took to morning walk at a Jogger’s Park. His detachment from community initially led him to keep himself aloof from the rest in the park. But -

Attachment:

Jenny a part-time model, part-time PRO, part-time many other things, young, attractive and single. A young bubbly character full of life, who believes in leading life on her own terms and conditions. Plus she is a fan of Justice Jyotin Prasad Chatterjee. Jenny sees Justice Chatterjee in the park and comes forward to get her introduced to him. Chatterjee tries to avoid her initially but somehow he starts to respond to Jenny’s friendly nature may be for her unique personality. Friendship grows between the two very different types of personalities from two generations miles away from each other. Yet friendship blooms. Jenny likes the maturity of JC, his passion, sincerity and intellect whereas JC admires her lively character and her conception towards love, life and somewhat appreciates her struggle for survival. JC starts to see the present world through Jenny’s eyes and her thoughts. At this juncture a feeling of warmth is created which touches the audience.

Jenny realises the feelings JC has for her and she confronts him in a very passionate manner.

Jenny: I think you have fallen in love with me... Its absolutely alright!!!! You need not be embarrassed.

Even I like you.....

At this point JC’s (Victor Bannerjee) expressions were too good. He was red with embarrassment, shy, yet he liked the way Jenny took to his feelings. A very matured acting displayed by both the actors.

Detachment:

The friendship was not quite acceptable by the society and they had to depart. JC’s daughter comes to know about the unique relationship of her father with a young model and on virtue of family honour JC and Jenny had to bid farewell to each other.

4 years later they again meet in a different locale amidst different people. JC is with his family and Jenny happily married to her secret admirer Rajiv and with their son.

But again they part and may be never to see each other again in their lifetime.

The overall story line is very touchy and emotional but not a tearjerker. It somehow questions our inner-self and our attachments with the environment around us. A lovely film of friendship, relationship, love and life. A must see film...

Music:

For a change no music & dance exercises around exotic locales. Music goes with the film and is an integral part of the film. The track by Usha Utthup is just too good and creates a rhythm and environment in the park scenes and so are the other songs, very well composed.

...ishk nahin hota sabke liye... is hummable and sad.

My favorites:

  • The concept of falling in love as depicted by Justice Chatterjee -

Falling in itself is a negative concept. Once you fall you get a fracture or heart break...

  • The last scene, even though they would never meet, yet attachments and bondings remain in form of a small gift - a ’OM’ locket in a chain round JC’s neck...

I am really sorry I couldn’t make it to the theatres to watch this wonderful film but I am really thankful to Zee TV for telecasting this film on their Premiere Show telecasts.

PS. - I was a bit doubtful about this film due to the reviews on the net but after watching it I feel that we have not yet grown up to appreciate such films. The Film is refreshing...
