The connemara public library, located in pantheon road, chennai , is one place which avid book readers in chennai should not miss.It is one of the oldest libraries in the country, established in 1890.It has got an amazing collection of 6 lakhs books of different genre.It is located in the calm and green campus of chennai museum.
In the ground floor, there is a section for the general books like biography, fiction, non fiction, history, geography and linguistics related books.In the first floor, one can find literary works in regional languages.The second floor is dedicated to the academic books.Many students can be found reading in the calm ambience. There is a separate reading hall for the the competition examination studies.A lot of numerous competition exam books and reference books are available. Adding to the glory of this library is the rare collections of palm leaf manuscipts which are many centuries old paving the way for the researches.

Library will be open through out the year except on three National and six festival holidays. The working hours are from 9.00 A.M to 7.30 P.M on week days and 9.30 A.M to 6.00 P.M on Sunday.
