I had been wanting to see this movie since long... So, I had myself watch this movie yesterday. My keen interest in this movie was because of the shivers the movie does give you with stunning scenes and so on... Infact I think this movie is better to watch than most(not all) of the horror movies, such that at least a chill passes through you when you watch it.
The movie is written by Michael Crichton and directed by Joe Johnston. Basically, Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and his fellow palenthologist, Billy Brennon (Alessandro Nivola) fly(made to fly) up to this island(you all know which island.. I aint going to explain the island now!!!... OK OK island full of Dinos), which all know, would have been best left alone. Why they are made to fly to the island is in search of Eric and Amnda Kirbys son who happens to end up in the god forsaken island... (how the son ends up there... watch the movie...). The plane crashes(Why.. come on find it out??). The plane rolls around a bit and the characters stay magically in place, without seatbelts :O-. Somewhere along the lines, raptor eggs are stolen, and the hunt is on by the raptors to find those elusive raptor eggs. Better watch the movie and get a grab of the story ... It aint bad anyway..
As can be imagined, there are all varieties of dinosaurs, both carnivores and herbivores. Some, such as the raptors, are out to get you using their own plan i.e. outsmarting the humans, while others, such as the brontosaurus, just want to observe. Perhaps as smart or smarter than humans. And they can set traps as well. They think and they plan.
In this movie, we get to see very little of Laura Dern. William H Macy, Tea Leoni, Sam Neill, Trevor Morgan and Alessandro Nivola are the most viewed characters.
The graphics of Jurassic Park 3 seemed more believable than in The Mummy Returns(Hey, hey, not comparing movies.. just putting out my preferences...). The dinosaurs seem alive, they seem more than cardboard cutouts. About the background of the movie.. its cool I loved the greenery and the forest look shown in all the parts of Jurassic Park. The best thing is that it is pretty believable and beautiful as well. The sound effects were good, occasionally hearing folks off in the corner and the tromping of the dinosaur feet seemed believable. But those of Jurassic Park 1st part were superb. This movie has been rated PG13... most probably because of the violence and the scary scenes.
Initially when the plane crashed in the trees, I sat in disbelief as the characters sat pretty much still in a plane that was going from side to side and falling about 20 feet downward. Best of all they were stuck up in the god forsaken island and that made a chill run through me. There were occasional gasps and laughter from the audience. The end seemed a bit draggy, I kept wondering if the end was really near. The ending was abrupt and I did not like the ending at all. Ah ya, did they get the son? Was he alive? How did they get away with the raptor eggs... What all mysteries did they face?? Well.... Watch the movie and find it out.... Anyway the caste is as follows:
Sam Neill ........... Dr. Alan Grant
William H. Macy ..... Paul Kirby
Téa Leoni ........... Amanda Kirby
Alessandro Nivola ... Billy Brennan
Trevor Morgan ....... Eric Kirby
Michael Jeter ....... Udesky
John Diehl .......... Cooper
Bruce A. Young ...... Nash
Laura Dern .......... Dr. Ellie Sattler
