I am a regular user of Justdial on my phone. They helped me in finding an electrician in my first week at an obscure location in Perungudi way back in 2007 and ever since, I have always looked up to their service for any need. For the last year or so, I have switched to their mobile site. This morning I find they have changed the mobile site completely. As a user, I am both happy and slightly disappointed.
The Pros:
The new site is sleek, very fresh and reasonably fast. It seems to be designed with touchscreen users in mind.
I like the multiple-results display and the "fully-loaded page" for each business. Somehow they seem to have managed to push their entire website content into a 3 inch screen.
I really love them giving multiple phone numbers on mobile and images of shop signboards right below the results and the hassle-free one-touch rating.
It took me a while to discover that when a do a fresh search, the default suggestions are from my history . a well thought out move to save tedious typing effort.
The Cons:
I however miss having phone numbers right with the search results which is now missing. Of course if one searches a specific business, it bypasses the search page and lands me directly to the business page.
Search results remain as weird as before. I have never being able to figure out the logic of their ordering anyway.
If I ask to mail me the results I also start getting phone calls. I was just trying out the site so this counts as a irritant.
Besides this, there are a few niggles here and there which will iron out over time.
Overall if the objective of this change trying to convert an utility into an experience, this does the job rather well. Impressive.
