Well.. kaal is definitely a different movie. its different, and thats the very reason I liked it so much. its a brand new concept, something about tigers and killings and people and death and jungle - in all its all so much spooky that you actually begin to enjoy the movie.
let me start :
- the plot is based on the orbit national park, alias for corbett national park.
- its all about people killed and not tigers.
- its about people trying to escape while someone is killing them one by one.
- its about destiny, and destiny means something that is supposed to happen, will happen !
kaal is breathtakingly fresh, exciting and thrilling to the core. in no part of the movie will you feel bored. the whole movie in centered on the philosophy that if you break the rules, you will pay ! and everyone who breaks the rules will pay. so if you want to be safe, just dont break the rules !
the film manages to create a certain uneasiness in the viewer, added the glam quotient of the two gals - lara dutta and esha deol, both of whom do nothing much in the whole movie but scream and expose. but without them the movie would lose a lot of the excitement as there would be nobody to shout and yell and scream !
one of the good things in the move is that THERE ARE NO SONGS, except the first song in the beginning - shah rukh and malaika and the song is excellent. means dont ever get late as the song is as good as the movie.
the actors are plain okay, john abraham and vivek oberoi both have not too much to act, while lara and esha are good for eye candy. nobody has much of a role worth mentioning, as the film is about the jungle and the animal kingdom ! but still vivek oberoi and vivek oberoi perfectly suit their roles, one as a researcher and one as a tourist !
ajay devgan plays a serious guide and acts pretty okay as ’KALI’, the person who can save these guys from death. his one liners and comments do deserve merit, though he enters only in the second half.
in all, I would say kaal is good or bad, coz its different from any of the movies of late. to say good or bad means a comparison, and there is nothing of the same class to compare to !
it scares, it makes me feel dizzy, it creates the perfect jungle atmosphere.
its a good movie. end of story.
