KAASHMORA : The casted Spell works partially!

A much awaited Black Magic Horror Comedy of the year was released on 28 October. Having captivated Tamil audience worldwide with its well crafted trailer, Kaashmora managed to put its name in the list of not-to-miss in this Diwali. Well, did the Black Magic work out?

Kaashmora opens with the protagonist Kaashmora(Karthi) with his family, makes a living by cheating people in the name of Black Magic and Supernatural tricks. But gets struck in the hands of Raj Nayak(Karthi). Who is Raj Nayak and why does he need Kaashmora? What happens to Kaashmora? All these queries are answered in the second half of the movie. The plot on the whole is good. But the screenplay fails to keep the audience in the edge of the seat. The horror ride starts only in the second half and the first half seems to be a bit irrelevant to the crux of the story. Director wants to convey us that Kaashmora is a cheat and succeeds in just 15 minutes from the start of the movie. But he tells again, again, and again, which makes the audience a bit tired.

Director Gokul, without leaving out his style of fun(as in Idharkkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara), experiments Black Magic epic horror this time. Kudos! Karthi, known for his dedicated acting in new style of movies proves yet again that he is one of the best in industry. A double action from Karthi for the first time. As a cheat, Kaashmora entertains us. As a deadly villain, Raj Nayak intimidates us. The character of Raj Nayak is well crafted and the expressions are just mind-blowing. Nayantara is magical with her exemplary acting equivalent to Karthi. Vivek, Sri Divya and Madhumitha all do their parts well. Santosh Narayanan yet again proves that he is one of the best upcoming music directors. "Oyaa Oyaa" and "Dhikku Dhikku" songs remain in our ears for a long time after the end of the movie. Special mention to the into song of Raj Nayak! The second half is grand. The grandeur of the big palaces, war scenes enthralls us. Cinematography is great in Second half, especially Oyaa Oyaa song.

Great story. Grand visuals. Let down by screenplay.
