The Rs.500 million venture deal with the relationship in Karan Johar style. Karan handles the issue of extra marital relationship maturely and resolves the issues with a less subdued glorification compared to his other movies. Both marriages have their own issues. Shahrukh meets an accident and can no longer play professional football. Preity is very successful in her career. Shahrukh plays the unsuccesful character .. and somewhat disgrunted with his life and wife. On the other hand, Abhishek plays a nicely written character who loves and adores his wife Rani while Rani looks for the illusionary love. Problems in their marriages make Shahrukh fall in love with Rani and as they meet to discuss their similar problems, Rani and Shahrukh find that they are moving deeper in their relationship. Amitabh Bachchan plays Abhishek’s father who enjoys life after his wife’s death and fills in the void in the overall serious movie. What happens next ?
It is interesting to note that Shahrukh Khan is bold enough to try such a role where he moves away from the traditional romantic guy who preaches love to all and instead plays a guy who complains about life and cheats on his wife while his wife is trying to earn for his family.
With age, Shahrukh can no longer play the young romantic guy which has been his forte. Age shows on his face and goes overboard with his expressions at times.
Playing a guy who had a leg injury, Shah Rukh Khan did not feature in any of the song and dance sequence and as he was the character who was initiating the whole promiscuity, it was a risky venture for the King Khan.
Rani Mukherjee looked old in her heavy makeup but delivered a good performance. Preity Zinta played a young career oriented lady with not much scope for anything special. Amitabh Bachchan was the life of the movie with his funny lines and colorful personality.
A must see.
