Wait for the listener is over as October 16 brings the much awaited music from the much awaited film of the year. Just when you think of going for this album, don’t even think that you will get to hear something brilliant from Karan Johar directed film Music by Jatin - Lalit, Sandesh Sandiliya, Aadesh Srivastava and lyrics by Sameer. This duo brothers have given amazing hits in the past and have proved very much better , when it come to films by Yash Chopra and Yash Johar production. But this time its very few number to hear from them. When you put the Side A of the cassette, it starts of with a great song (title track), you can call it a bhajan, sung beautifully by Genious Lata Mangeshkar, ’’Mere Sasson mein Tu ha samaya, tera jeevan hai mera sayya , teri puja karon , mein hardam, yeh tere karam Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’’ the orchestration is good , except for a few parts of the song, where it not taken well, the song ends on a lovely note. It time for the second song the Bhoole Chudiyan, again a lovely song to keep listening too.Singers like Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Kavita Subramaniam, Amit Kumar and Sonu Nigam, gives the song the right touch of voice, lines such as 1) ’’Mere payal bhoolaye tujhe, jo ruthe manaye tujhe, oh saajan ji, ha sajan ji, khuch socho khuch samjo meri baat ko.’’ 2) Apni Mang suhagan ho, sangh hamesha saajan ho have a great feel. Then comes the no. 3 song, ’’You are My Soniya’’ sung by Sonu Nigam & Alka Yagnik, composed by Sandesh Sandilya, is an average number, to be honest, Sandesh have tried to do justice to his work on in debut as music director in this film. Comes the no. 4 Songs Deewana Hai Dekho again composed by Sandesh S. sung by Alka Yagnik & Sonu Nigam and part of voice rendered by Kareena Kapoor, again just one time listenable song. We continue with no. 5 song is Sad Version of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham sung by Lata Mangeshkar, lines such as ’’ Tere saath hongie meri dhuaye..., aaye kabhi na tujhpe kohi balaye’’ mera dil ye kahe tu jaha be rahe , har gadi har kushi chume tere kadam, ...’’ tell us mother rendering her blessing on her child. The side ends with the instrumental by Sandesh again the ’’Soul of K3G’’ We go to the B side of the album we have the first song Suraj Hua Maddham rendered by Sonu Nigam & Alka Yagnik , average song , which is listenable too, composed by Sandesh S. Comes the Song no 7 , Yeh Ladki hai Allah, composed by Jatin - Lalit and sung by Udit Narayan & Alka Yagnik, very much sounds like ’’mehndi lagake rakna’’ their previous work for DDLG, again a number with good lines such as ’’Labh kahe na kahe bolti hai nazar pyar nahi chupta, yaar chupane se, roop googhat mein ho to suhana lage, baat nahi banti yaar batane se..’’ beautifully written by Sameer. Then the next song , Sad version of the title track sung by Sonu Nigam. Comes the last song composed by the guest composer Aadesh Srivastava for this film ’’Say Shava Shava’’, very much close to his earlier work ’’Sona Sona’’ for the film Major Saab, when he had composed a song like this, but this time it does not have much effect like the earlier song. Overall this album of Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham is an average and just listenable, those expecting much better after Kuch Kuch Hota Hai , they will miss a lot of work by Jatin - Lalit, apart from Jatin - Lalit songs which were well written and planned , others were made to fill up the rest. Karan Johar, in the process of making a mix of songs missed the right need of songs for this film. Need to put a good show in the film now. Good lyrics by Sameer and good work by Jatin Lalit , may keep the listeners interested in this album of the much awaited film of the year. Already the video looks great and we can expect a great story from this young director. We need to wait and watch for the December 14.
