The first time I heard the songs, I felt confused. Why? Because couldnt decide whether I liked the songs or not. Now, before I manage to confuse everybody else whos reading this review, let me just explain.
The title song Kal Ho Naa Ho is simply great! It is very touching n melodious. You can listen to this one for hours and not get bored. (9.5/10)
:)
Then comes Mahi Ve. This is where I got confused. Because the song itself has nothing new to offer, the feel is an oft repeated one, and its the type of song which is almost always there in a KJ movie. BUT I liked it. Maybe its because of the picturisation or because the energy it has in it, or just because you can dance your heart out on it. Whatever may be the reason, I definitely like it more than You are My Sonia!! (yuck!) By the way, I would give Mahi Ve a 5.5 out of 10.
Its the Time to Disco: When I heard it the first time , I didnt like it much. It seemed like just another song which youll forget once the movies out of the theatres. But boy! Was I wrong or what!! After listening to it a couple of times, I started liking it. When the song starts and you can hear the Tabla (?) , it sounds simply fab!! I would give it 7/10
Kuch to Hua Hai : Its a nice song. You can listen to it and youll start feeling happy. But its not amazing . THIS could be the kind of song youll forget easily, or u might not ...pata nahi! :)
(Dont blame me for confusing you, I think Saifs confusion rubbed off on me) (6.5/10)
Kal Ho Naa Ho sad version: This one fails to move you. The nonsad title song touches you more than the sad one does. Its basically a mixture of the Punjabi wedding song n parts of the title song. Leaves you all the more confused. (Okay...I know ab kuch zyaada hee ho gaya...hehe)
Pretty Woman: Mediocre song. Charges you up but its dependent on the picturisation. I mean its good as a part of the movie along with shahrukh and all the colourful background but as just a song, its not memorable...at all.
Heartbeats (Instrumental) : I like this one, and I was trying to play it on my synthesiser. But because Im not one of S-E-L nor do I have a Yamaha or Roland keyboard so the end result was pretty horrible. Ok...Back to the review! So...I liked this one, more so because its related to the title song!
But on the whole, you expect better stuff from the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy camp, I mean you dont expect good music from them, you expect great music. Lets see what their next album will carry....
