Ancient Temple

Kamakhya temple is one of the ancient temple of India. It is one of 51 piths of Sati. The temple is situated in Nilachal Hill. The total atmosphere of the temple carries a signature mark of cave architecture. The main place of maa kamakhya is under the ground where you have to reache through the specified steps.People from all over the country visits this temple in a huge number. In special time i.e. Ambubachi a fair is organized around the temple area. This is the peak time of worshippers. Lakhs of worshippers visit during this period. You have to wait in queue almost for 3-4 hrs in normal season and 7-12 hours in Ambubachi time to take a glance of the Garva- Griha ( the main place of the temple) . There is a short cut line also where you can spend ₹.500/- per head to queue in VIP line . You can visit earlier using VIP line.I never support this kind of VIP line in temple. This was quite absurd to me in this famous temple. The Pandits are altime there offering you to provide special pujas before the deity instead of some money. Whatever it is better to stand in normal queue to experience in better way. In the main Garva - Griha the total place is completely dark .onle one Bulb is there to provide dim light. The pandits guide you to touch the blessings of the Kamakhya Maa.There are many shops outside the temple area from where you can buy the required Thalis of Puja. You can also buy Momentos of Maa Kamakhya.
