Gone are the days when world would look up Kanpur as the Manchester of east. The second largest city of North India is declining but the ray of hope is the education centers in the city. Kanpur not only has IIT but is also proud of HBTI (UPs biggest Engg centre), GSVMC (UPs biggest medical college). JK Cancer Inst (UP’s only cancer inst), Pulse Inst, Sugercane Inst, CSAU (Agri Uni), Leather Inst, Text Inst, Poly tech etc.
Besides it also has very good college and school network, Methodist High School is almost 125 yrs Sr. Secondry School! KU is also biggest non-residential uni of UP. The city suffer because of poor political petronage. Althogh city is among the top 5 city contributing to the revenue of the country but there are no proper roads, power supply is very erratic. the city has 3 airports but non of them is operative. Yet is very well connect by all parts of the country by rail, there is almost 1 train every hr connecting Delhi - Kanpur.
It is a distance poor cousin of Lucknow. The city boost of chemical, textile, leather industries. Panki power plant etc. City needs the desperate support from the govt
