Well, I bought it almost when Karbonn launched in Bangalore. I was looking for a phone with dual sim and high battery backup. For rest of the functions I have N95 which was running out of battery. This Karbonn K444 was Rs.3200 when I bought it in September 2009.
Battery Backup is really good. If I charge it fully I can almost use it for maximum a week and a minimum is 4 days, which is pretty good. The sound clarity is also great. The music player also is pretty decent. It has a torch. Then it has got a voice modulator. The audio recorder is also good. It has got a Bluetooth, calendar, unit converter and a BMI checker. So, for someone looking for a really basic phone with some functions, this is gr8.You can charge it even if you connect it to your laptop or PC.
The disadvantages are only if you expecting high end functions in this mobile. In dual sim the problem is that while one sim is active, calls to other number is shown as switched off or unreachable. Though I got the gprs settings and there is WAP connectivity, I was not able to connect to the internet through this. It can open only low resolution images and only 3gp videos. You cannot connect it to your PC to transfer files; though you can charge that way (not even if you download the pc suite from net). The video and photo quality is really very basic. Even the screen size is small. The games are too basic even for time pass. In the messages the t9 dictionary doesn’t work.
So, these are the basic pros and cons of the mobile. I still use it. The only problem I had was the charging point once, which I got it repaired from service centre immediately. There are many service centres in Bangalore, so that’s not a problem. Due to that issue, my battery had some problem, which I had to buy a new one, since battery had only 6 months warranty.
Overall, I rate it as a good phone for normal users with dual sims and high battery backup. Never had a problem with it while travelling for 3-4 days. Even a laptop is good enough to charge it. ( I haven’t used its proper charger for 5 months.)
