Kareena Kareena aired on Zee TV on Weekdays 9.30 pm is like a breath of fresh air in this TV age of ’’saas bahus’’, ’’family feuds’’ where extra-marital affairs and illegitimate children are part and parcel of reel life.
KK is the story of a young and aspiring girl, Kareena, who comes to Mumbai from Chandigarh to escape matrimony. She promises her mother that if she does not find herself a job and become independent, she will marry the boy of her mother’s choice.
In Mumbai, Kareena stays with a family friend, who has a daughter Padmalakshmi - Pammi for short. Pammi and Kareena lockhorns from day 1.
Kareena’s quest for a job proves futile as days run by... Kareena is frustrated and dreads the idea of marrying the man of her mother’s dreams :) Just when she is about to pack her bags to Chandigarh, she happens to see an advertisement for a personal assistant at ’’Chamatkar Soaps’’. Kareena goes for the interview and realises that the criteria for selection are very different. The Head of Chamatkar, Mrs. Neelambari Pandey aka ’’Neelu Madam’’ is a tyrannical woman who believes that a true woman respects and abides by her husband and places the family above everything else. Desperate for a job, Kareena lies that she is a married woman with a child in tow.
Impressed with her mannerisms, Neelu Madam hires her.
Now for a little spin... Kareena’s good friend, Tanu, who gets a job in Radio Curry, a hip and happening radio station, has to go out of town suddenly. She begs Kareena to take her place until she returns. Kareena is forced to oblige and Voila... Kareena who was desperate for a job... now has two jobs...
There is also a romantic angle to this story... Kareena falls hopelessly in love with Tushar Pandey, Neelu Madam’s son from the US of A. But Kareena is in a dilemma since he believes that she is married and looks at her as a mere assistant. He has a liking towards RJ Kareena, who has become talk of every household. He tries all that he can to woo her.
Just when Kareena makes up her mind to tell Tushar the truth... arrives RJ Kareena... who??? Pammi of course...

Kulraj Randhawa makes a smashing debut as Kareena. A MBA graduate from Punjab, she has all the traits to be a TV star. Her looks, her persona, her language is completely unadulterated. She is very natural and her dialogue delivery is easy. Her eyes speak volumes and her ’’girl next door’’ look will definitely take her places. I just hope that she does not get caught in the mad rush to make it big.
Kareena Kareena, in my opinion, has been strategically positioned by Zee in the 9.30 slot against Sony’s Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin. But believe me, there is absolutely no comparison... KK is far far ahead in terms of acting, content and packaging
So... Mona Singh(Jassi)... better watch out... Kulraj Randhawa does not require outlandish clothes, braces or oversized glasses to be different.
