Have you ever had a feeling that all the women in soaps are more or less just crybabies and/or big matronly figures? Move over girls. Bani Walia is here.
Thats Kasamh Se for you. This serial has got everything that the perfect soap should have-the bitchy villian, the wimpy husband, the rebellious children and the heroine who was supposed to have been dead for the last 20 years. However, after Prachi Desai left the show, the plot was changed. Enter Promita, a talented artist, who is actually Bani Walia suffering from amnesia and plastic surgery. You would think that you would get bored with this, but the plot moves extremely slickly. Its impossible to imagine that the whole serial is actually just fiction.
Let me explain. Orphans Bani Walia, her sisters Rano and Pia have gone through harrowing times which result in Bani single-handedly raising her daughter by industrialist Jai Walia, Pia going into a coma and Rano staying back at the Walia house, married to Ranvir and forced to see her sisters helplessness. Just when everything resolves and Bani has twins by Jai, a scheming money-mad Meera kills the one of the twins and pushes Bani into a lake, thus fulfilling her desire of marrying Jai. Bani survives, only to lose her memory and get plastic surgery done on her face.
Meanwhile Meera spoils Banis elder daughter Ganga, hell-bent on ruining Gangas future. She doesnt even mind being a pushy mother in her desire to see her own son Vicky on Jai Walias chair. However in a unique twist of fate, Promita that is Bani, becomes Gangas art teacher.
The thing with Kasamh Se is that despite a considerable amount of melodrama, you cant help but wish you were a part of the serial. You just want to be one of the characters. The suspense generated by the plot is admirable. Not to mention the cast performance. Meera who actually played Banis friend once, does such a shocking role-reversal that you think that she was the villian all along. Gurdeep Kohli as the new Bani fits her role of strong Promita, not even so much a flinching when Ganga tries to back-answer her. Meeras son Vicky acts like your typical pressured son and Ganga speaks with so much contempt and attitude in her voice that you wonder how could she have been so innocent when she was a little girl.
Watch Kasamh Se if youre getting tired of saas-bahu dramas. Youll like it. I know that many people find the plot of Kasamh Se unrealistic, but hey, its just a serial for goodness sake. Ekta Kapoor never implied that it was some real life thing. Its just for entertainment. You are supposed to enjoy it, not be so serious. I mean common guys, youll are sane, and youll know that this is fiction. I know that many people find the plot of Kasamh Se unrealistic, but hey, its just a serial for goodness sake. I mean okay, so I just said earlier that its impossible to think of this serial as fiction, but even then.
Comments, negative AND positive will be appreciated. I mean, if you find both the serial and my review trash, its okay.
