Kashid is a beautiful seaside weekend retreat on the Konkan stretch . We took the route from the Pune exepressway and made an exit at Khopoli for Pen. Though this route might have been longer, the beauty of the route made up for it.The drive from Alibaugh to Kashid and further to Murud was just breathtaking and the rains made the surroundings very green and lush.
At Kashid we stayed at Sarve hute after many reading many great reviews on the net. But the Sarve Huts left me disappointed as it was highly overpriced for Rs 2400/- per night for very basic amenities.Though the food certainly was good.
Kashid beach is a long one and it wasnt too crowded even on the weekend. One can relax on the hammocks which are provided by the vendors if you buy something from them.
The next day we drove to Murud and further ahead to view the majestic Janjira fort. As it was raining and the tides were high, the ferry service to the fort had been stopped.Enroute one can also see the Nawabs palace perched at the edge of the hills and overlooking the sea(though entry prohibited)
