Firstly, I am not a software expert or a techie, but, I do know what an antivirus software ought to do and Kaspersky does just that!
I have been using Kaspersky for an year now both at workplace and home and I am very happy with the protection it offers. Basically Kaspersky is swift, slim and super!
The KIS 2009 comes with a antivirus, antispyware, firewall and more, yet uses less system resources and RAM that it won’t slow down or clog up yoursystem unlike the very-popular-yet-a-disaster Norton AV. Some additional features include:
a firewall, an intrusion-protectionsystem, antiphishing, antidialer, antispam, parental controls, an adbanner blocker, application filtering . and even more but like I said it wont take much of your resources.
the installation is simple and instructions are easy to follow. KIS has won the cnet editors choice for two years in a row which is decent proof of its capability. The interface is again relatively simple to navigate. The program automatically updates the virus database so you can be rest assured that you are protected.
Now moving on to the cons- training the program can be at times annoying and relatively confusing for starters, so be prepared to be patient! The developers could have put some more efforts to deliver to a more strong and meaningful alert and messaging system the one at present is decent but not 100% loud and clear.
Overall, if you are looking for simple and lean AV for your machine then KIS is definitely worth it!
