At one time I used to be a great fan of Kathleen. I simply relished eating Kathleen’s chicken sandwiches. However, my personal favorite was the cheese puff. It was delicious and soft at the same time, and melted in my mouth the moment it entered. In this context, it’s important to mention that the green peas Kachori, the vegetable patties, and the mutton patties of the Dhakuria outlet tasted equally yummy and good. The prices of almost all the major items were within the range of INR 12 to INR 50. I consider this type of price range as extremely reasonable. The cakes and pastries were no doubt very good, but still I felt Kathleen’s strength rested on its salted items.
Unfortunately, Kathleen nowadays fails to match its previous high standards. Although the price range has not undergone a huge change, the quality of food products has reduced to a great extent. The chicken sandwiches are no more soft and juicy, and most of the other items have lost their unique taste and flavor for which Kathleen was once so famous. In addition, the staff of the Dhakuria outlet has gone from bad to worse! I am giving them no marks at all when it comes to the consideration of their effort towards customer satisfaction. They don’t have the courtesy to smile when a customer drops inside their outlet, and they don’t even bother to ask what the customer is looking for! This I feel is absolutely unprofessional on their part.
I also feel the food items at this outlet are not as fresh as they should be, and the machine designed to make the products warm and tasty, fail to work properly most of the time. The worst thing is that say for instance if you have made your mind to taste the cheese puff which costs INR 30 at the moment, then the staff at this outlet will always expect you to pay the exact amount without fail, and will refuse to take even a 50 rupees note from you. For all these reasons, I would recommend you to stay away from Kathleen, and especially, from its Dhakuria outlet. So, unless and until there’s a genuine effort on the part of the management to improve the quality in all departments, it’s simply not worth trying Kathleen!
