I hardly change my mind when I have to buy a product. I usually do research, decide on purchasing a brand and then just go there and buy it.
But, I changed my mind at the last minute when I had to buy a air cooler and today I am living with out the services of a cooler though I have one at my home.
It was last year that I decided to buy a air cooler. I live in II floor of our building (Bangalore) and we dont had have any floors above our house. So we were exposed to the scrothching heat in summers.
I did some research. Even saw two symphony air coolers in our neighbours house, heard good feedback from them on the product and decided to buy a symphony air cooler. (Dont remember the exact variant of symphony which I had planned).
Visited couple of shops in Indiranagar. Didnt find symphony air coolers in all the shops and then finally visited pai international. They didnt had symphony coolers and the sales person started diverting my attention to Kenstar. He said they are the largest selling in india and even I saw the same sticked on the vibrant model of kenstar. Also, he assured that their customer service quality is best and also boasted of selling the particular model in 100s in past one month. I fell prey for him and bought Kenstar Vibrant CT 9924 for Rs. 4400.
The trouble with our cooler started right from day one. The air distributor (the line of plastics which swing and distribute air to the whole room) was not working from day one. Lodged a complaint and after couple of follow ups with kenstar customer care and with the dealer, the service person came after couple of weeks. (He came only after I threatened that I was going to return the cooler). Came and checked the cooler, did some repair and said it was rectified.But I was not convinced as the swing movement was not smooth and was feeling tht it was having great difficulty in comleting a swing.
The service guy told me that it is common and I shouldnt worry abt it. I insisted that since I paid money for it, I need a one which works smooth. He said he will come back next week with something and never came back after that and even I some how lost interest as the cooler was working fine except for that glitch.
Ok.. that was the flashback.. History of how my association with kenstar and my first brush with the quality of the product and service. Summer of 2010 passed and I emptied water from my cooler (as it is of now use in winters in bangalore) and had almost forgot abt it till the start of summer again in 2011.
Again pulled it out from the corner, cleaned it, filled it with enough water and switched it on a sunny day when the temperature had reached almost 34 - 35 degrees.
No response from my cooler. Changed some modes.. no.. not ready to respond. So.. called the customer care registered a complaint with number BAN0404110142 on April 4th 2011 and was told that a engineer will attend with in 24 hours. One week passed, no one turned. Again called them... again got the same answer that service engineer will visit in 24 hours. another week passed and weeks passed and I again followed up getting the same response.
Finally after four weeks, my issue got resolved. Yaa.. got resolved only on thier papers!!!!!!!
To my horrot, I Got a SMS to my mobile after four weeks that my issue was solved where as a engineer from kenstar never visited my home. So, they did some magic and solved it offline.
Today, I have lost hope and have dumped the cooler to a corner of my house. I decided to survive this summer with fan alone (as I was doing in the past so many years) and have also decided not to buy any Kenstar products in future.
