That was a short synopsis on Key to Rebecca another fast paced, action filled novel by Ken Follett.. Now, Follett is my favorite author.. most of his stories are brought out in such a manner that the reader would get a feeling “hey.. this incident could have actually happened”.. Also the central character in all his novels are women.. mostly an intelligent, confident lady who take the enemy on her own..… its always an interesting read…
Most of the Story in “Key to Rebecca” takes place in Egypt and the author describes the periodic Arabian style very well.. the streets, costumes.. the Egyptian customs… people behavioral patterns.. everything is good.. added to is the pace of the story.. you could read the whole story in just one sitting..
The story takes place while war is going on between European nations on their rights over Egypt…There are three central characters.. first one the spy – “Achmed” who would disguise as Alexander Wolff… Then Mr. William Vandam, an officer ….. who happens to find out the real reason behind why Wolff is in Cairo (Egypt) and tries to capture him with the help of “Elene Fontana” a girl who has affairs with men in order to maintain a luxurious lifestyle …
And like most of the “nail biting” novels.. Wolff is almost always about to get captured but escapes with a fantastic timing..…. Of course, as you might have already guessed…. Vandam and Elene fall in love with each other!!! This was the only small negative aspect that I found in the novel.. the life of the various characters are slightly predictable.. but still interesting..
I wouldn’t want to give out too much of the plot… the book is really an interesting read.. Its not Follett’s best work yet.. but definitely engrossing!!!
So go grab it.. grip it.. and get thrilled…
