Khajjiar Lake “The Mini Switzerland of Himachal Pradesh” present in the western part of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Khajjiar Lake lies about 6300 feet above sea level between Chamba and Dalhousie. The average depth of this lake is stated to be thirteen feet. Khajjiar Lake has a clump of reeds and grasses exaggeratedly called an island in it. Fed by slim streams this small lake rests in the centre of large glade of Khajjiar. This glade is greenish in its turf and contains in its centre a small lake having approximate area of 5000 square yards. Khajjiar Lake has thick forest of Kala Top sanctuary surrounding its soft green grass. There is a ‘golden’ domed temple at the edge of this meadow, dedicated to the deity ‘Khajjinag’, from whom the area derives its name. Khajjiar Lake is situated in KhajjiarKalatop wild life sanctuary. This small sanctuary lies in the catchments of the Ravi River, located in western part of Chamba District.
I can travel with my class friends to khajjiar and during the month of August in previous year.Its only 27 kms from the Chamba. We are about 35 people to go there and we haired bus . It takes one and half hour to reach there.
Its also be said as an the mini Switzerland of Himachal Pradesh.When we reached at khajjiar firstly I can see around me that all over covered with the natural beauty.I am fresh feel there .There a big ground whole covered with a green grass not a plain ground exactly there also a paths among all sides of ground which is covered with the big stress makes the way whole beautiful.we are capture many snaps there its looks a place which have the natural beauty big trees all around area covered.
As we are more people we arrange food there.we took initial material and prepare the food, collecting dry wood in that area .
The paragliding is also be available there for the tourists adventure’s. Many people are ride on horses.Overall we enjoy the full day and came back in evening time 5PM.It is really natural beauty.
