INTRODUCTION

Raj Kumar Santoshi’s magical touch worked for the multi starrer movie, Khakee which makes me remember about his ’’Andaz Apna Apna’’. This is said to be a salute to the Indian police force and its true. This movie was the only one I found interesting in January as all others bored me at a very high level which made me even think about stopping watching Bollywood movies. But this movie, I have to admit - was really classy.

THE MOVIE

The movie is filled with excitements and quick, sudden action. If you just turn your head around, you may be missing the action. So keep tuned in till the end. The movie also has some melodious music that includes ’’Uppar vaale’’ which is really touching the heart, making us remember about the lives of cops as well as the love songs ’’Dil dooba’’ and ’’Waada raha’’ and not to forget the thrilling quick rocking song featuring Lara Dutta - ’’Aisa Jadoo’’. They add to the quality of the movie.

THE PLOT

The plot is just great - it tells the story of a mission and three policemen’s courage and confidence. Anant Srivastava (Amitabh Bachchan), a man who gets his last mission, a chance to prove that he is not a failure to those who thinks so.

Sr. Inspector Shekhar (Akshay Kumar), who doesn’t care for anything and thinks about his own life, and Sub-Inspector Ashwin Gupte (Tusshar Kapoor), a rookie, but a very energetic and confident officer who hates crime and has complete dedication to the force, coming right out of training on his first mission. They along with the other memebers of a special selected team are ordered to go to Chandangarh and bring a terrorist named Dr. Iqbal Ansari (Atul Kulkarni) to the Mumbai court for interrogation.

When the squad goes to Chandangarh, where they meet Mahalaxmi (Aishwarya Rai) and she goes with them. Shekhar just falls in love with her in the first sight. The terrorist leader, who is also an ex-police man, Angre (Ajay Devgan), stands between the court and the cops. He hates Anant Srivastava more than anything else. On the process, Ansari tells his story to the cops.

Will the squad succeed in taking Ansari to court? What will Angre do? What role will Mahalaxmi play in the mission? What about the love story of Shekhar? What’s Ansari’s story? Can Anant prove himself? Will Shekhar’s attitude have any effect on the mission? Will Ashwin’s aggression do the team any good? Just go through the entertaining movie and find out all the answers.....

PERFORMANCE

Amitabh Bachan suits into the experienced officer’s role well. His performance was lively and realistic. He added to the strength of the movie with his superb crashing dialogues and his stern looks. He is just adding feathers to his cap (He can buy a new cap if the feathers are too much).

Ajay Devgan shines in his neative role really well. I believe that he looks even better than in Deewangee. His eyes portrait his character and his dialogue delivery was in superb flow. Isn’t he getting better and better?

Akshay Kumar comes to a low morale cop from the determined cops he played earlier in his 90s movies. But he made the change in a significant manner that we have to say that he is amazing.

Tushar Kapoor plays a serious, determined role coming back from his college boy image which he got in his first few films. I didn’t realise that he can be this much brilliant in acting. He has made a strong come back from a serious of flops. A lot may be expected from him later (not Gayab or Sart). Not to forget that he is the only star present in the final scene with the villain which was quite amazing - the pick of the movie.

Aishwarya Rai looks charming and beautiful and with some good facial expressions, she continues what her good job in Bollywood, but I believe that her role was just to make sure that Akshay Kumar meets the dead end with a broken heart. Her role just bends to the negative side in the end.

Atul Kulkarni looks natural. I think I have seen him in 88 Antop Hill - I am not sure, but he did his part well. He is natural in his acting and he surely does emotions very well. He seems to have learned the basics well enough.

CONCLUSION

From the class of the cast itself, you can realise that the movie will keep its standards. The presence of each and every superstar added to the total value of the movie. With some good direction and screenplay, the movie couldn’t resist the tendency to become a hit.

It makes us remember about the work and the duties of police force of India, their dangerous missions with high risks and their high responsiblities which the common people fails to see and understand. The movie really was a nice experience. A morale booster for all those who turns their back on their responsiblities when they finds them hard.

It teaches the importance of the bravery to take up the responsiblities on your own shoulders without caring for what may happen next. You will have to do what you think is right and what you are supposed to do. No turning back from your duties as it comes first.....
