A bollywood police story

Rajkumar Santoshi’s latest offering KHAKEE has an awesome script and is an explosive film. It is one of the most exhilarating thrillers to reach the silver screen in recent time.

The team comprising of the Professor (Amitabh Bachchan), Inspector Sachdev (Akshay Kumar) and Sub Insp. Ashwin (Tusshar Kapoor), along with two constables, is given the charge of escorting the dreaded terrorist (Ajay Devgan)and a crucial witness Iqbal Ansari (Atul Kulkarni) in the case against him, from Chandanghad to Mumbai. And the trio set out on their journey, not aware of the danger that lies ahead. The film also stars Aishwarya Rai, Tanuja and Jaya Prada (as Bachchan?s wife) in pivotal roles.

The film is filled with several twists and turns, but not so many that the plot becomes difficult to swallow or to follow. The subplots ? and there are several ? are as well-developed as the main story, and the supporting characters are presented as more than mere colorful misfits decorating the background.

Music [Ram Sampath] belongs to the popular genre, but all three songs of the film ? ’Wada Raha’, ’Dil Dooba’ and ’Aisa Jadoo’ [Lara Dutta] ? seemed forced in the screenplay. Had KHAKEE been a songless film, the script would’ve been even more tighter.

On the whole, Good script, excellent performances intriguing web-like storyline, outstanding action make KHAKEE a viewers delight.
