Though it is late to review Khakee, I think it is still worth doing it.
Khakee is an entertaining, engrossing, and thrilling action movie. It has a good story line to make sense of the action. This movie has many twists and turns that it will be a spoiler to tell the story in detail.
Story in a nutshell:
A terrorist has to be escorted from Chandangadh to Mumbai and presented in court. A team of police officers get killed in the first transfer attempt. A new 5 member team is formed to complete this mission. The enemy is stronger, clever and always a step ahead of the team. The rest of the story involves overcomes overwhelming odds, encounter with death and near death situations, the realizations, the redemptions, dirty politics, corruption, betrayal, revenge and finally justice, albeit delayed!
The team:
Amitabh, an honest, senior and unsuccessful police officer heads the team as he wants to make a life statement out of this mission. The angry young cop of the 70s is now a frustrated old DCP. Yet, he marches on with the honors that made him the One!
Akshay, a dishonest cop with a flirtatious background. Yet, he is a very competent cop with a good instinct when he gets down to business.
Tushaar, a young cop who aspires to follow the principles of truth.
and Two constables
My Observations: -
Good storyline and screenplay
Good Performance from all cast members, Tusshar was kinda stone faced in many scenes.. he could have relaxed a bit.. but he was effective.
Some good comic timing from Akshay
Not a routine cop movie
Ajay devgan as villan was good. but his performance is getting cliched
Good ending. I like optimistic endings :)
Good action
Aishwaryas inclusion in team was stupid. It was dumb and unconvincing
The first set of cops (10 numbers) who tried to escort Ansari were all killed. Obviously the police should have doubled its efforts by sending more cops next time.. what do they do?? send just 5 instead!!
The final fight sequence between Ajay and Amitabh could have been
better thought out.
More editing pls! Can easily edit out 20 minutes to make the movie more engrossing
Amitabhs sermons on deshbakthi (patriotism) and Khakee ka farz (Duty of cops) gets repetitive after a while.
Well paced, slows in second half for a while but regains momentum
I liked the movie and I recommend it with 4 stars.
