I watched khatarnaak around 4 or 5 times, it’s a pretty good movie especially from the other flop movies that were coming out in the 80’s. Khatarnaak stars sanjay dutt, farha, anupam kher, kiran kumar and anita raj. The movie is from the late 80’s when sanju earlier began to do don roles.
The film is directed by bharat rangachary, who has directed films like takkar, zulm ki hukumat and waqt hamara hai.
The film starts with young suraj killing somebody to save his friends life, raised in an atmosphere of hate, violence, and crime suraj ( sanjaydutt) is cold blooded killer who mercilessly kills his victims for the right amount, usually from the instructions from his boss dhabariya ( anupam kher). Suraj doesn’t listen to anybody and does what he feels that’s right.
jaunpuriya(kiran kumar) is the worst enemy of dabariya and suraj is arrested for fighting with jaunpuriya’s men and is imprisoned and he gets to meet dr. sangeeetha josi (farha). Sangeetha tries to put some sense into suraj’s head. Suraj starts to fall in love with her, but sangeetha wants nothing to do with him until he gives up his life of crime.
sangeetha gets married to yogesh kothar (ajit pal). On the night of the wedding sangeetha’s husband yogesh goes gambling, and gambles with suraj, but suraj doesn’t know that sangeetha has married to yogesh, yogesh looses every penny and kills himself. When suraj goes to meet sangeetha he finds out that yogesh was sangeetha’s husband and gives up his criminal ways.
Suraj’s boss dabariya tries everythiing to get suraj back int he gang, even tries to kill sangeetha. Then in the end sangeetha is kidnapped where suraj has to go and save her.
Khatarnaak is an average films which could have been a lot better with a better director. The songs in the film aren’t worth listening, govinda comes in one of the songs called jeena hai humko.
Performance wise- sanjay dutt does gives a very good performance, he doesn’t talk that much, but his silence tells all. The film is only for sanjay dutt fans. Farha does a nice job, she never got far as an actress, but she was pretty good in these kinds of roles. Anupam kher as usual is good. Kiran kumar is funny has the don jaun puriya. overall an okay film.
