The Kholanis is a decent eatery, if you are looking for a better ambiance and nicely furnished eat-out in/around Tolichowki area. The menu, though exhaustive yet few restrictive courses is to be relied. Clean and hygienic place to dine with family members.
The counter-top guy at the reception having no idea about the cuisines or the preparation of gourmets that are served. A few run-in chefs would be a good help, if you need an update on the recipe, preparation, and dishes to order. Ive heard and read about their barbecue section but, since I was in a hurry so opted for a takeaways.
I ordered for the Special Boneless Chicken Biryani and Pathar Ka Gosht. Overall, the food is average although the Pathar Ka Gosht tastes good. You can feel the flavors of various *garam masalas* used in the preparation after few munches. The kebabs also oozes the taste of the slab (granite) which makes it impressive. The two cons, though minor, yet plays a vital role to spoil the otherwise good platter are:
1) The keema is boiled and therefore, its looses the thread-like sumptuousness of a kebab.
2) The kebabs when served in a normal room temperature taste over-the-top salty because of the use of salt in keema while boiling and when fried.
The worst is however, the Special Boneless Chicken Biryani. Its an awful biryani that Ive eaten anywhere in Hyderabad. Not sure whether the original Dum Ki Biryani also follows the same preparation or not but, this one having the chicken which taste closely to Chicken Manuchurian. In fact, pieces of the Manchuian Chicken is being added to make the Biryani. The masala is too hard and felt of Chicken Bhuna instead of Biryani.
Based on the ratings and decent ambiance, I felt it would be serving a food that could be recommend for more but disappointed.
