**khoya khoya chand ...Vaise chand to mil gaya par shayad film ho gayi**...this is exactly what i felt
when I left the theater ..after the morning show ..
The film is another addition to the recent genre of recreating bygone filmy era ...though he makes a heartening attempt to capture the the emotional struggles and sensibilties of the actors but somewhere loses his focus. Neverthless it is worth a watch
First things first the **story ..** a young girl with a separated parents compelled to shoulder the burden of her family strives to make it big in the film industry. She struggles unless she is spotted by a then superstar Prem kumar(rajat kumar ) and gets her first big break. This of course does not come cheap for her as she ends up being his mistress.
In the mean time A talented aspiring writer Zafar ( Shiney ahuja) replaces the writer in his film and love blossoms as they come together. But circumstances, inflated egoes and the cobwebs of the life dont allow their union. Zafar attempts another film, fails miserably and leaves mumbai while Nikhat burns out with alcohol and lost love .after this hiatus of a few years zafer returns to make a new film and cast nikhat and this time nikhat dint let the moon fade away in clouds ..
the story takes many other **meandering turns** which complicate the plot and slug the pace (the attraction between zafar and ratan bala and nikhat patching up with prem kumar).nonethless it does a fine job with depicting **the ephmeral love of the reel actors and the seething pain (which I think could have been shown with more intesity) and starking reality that we are all slaves to our circumstances.
Actors **:
**Soha** does a good job with the classic Diva look and manages reinvent the charming , vulnerable actor . she looks incredibly resplendent in her sarees and yes remember **Chand mil gaya **it was an obvious reference to her.
**Shiney:** Shiney shines sans all the histrionic acting in his earlier movies .He Very well emotes a
passionate writer **( autobiographic)** trying to get on with life caught in the agonising memories of a disturbed childhood and a regret that he did not forgive his dying father .The chemistry between Soha and him was okay but could have ben bettter with a little more effort .And yes he looked really stunning in all **grey and blue black outfits ..**
sonya jehan looked really real and sensuous , saurav shukla and rajat kapur were usual Selves rest manged well.
But the real winners were the **crisp and brief dialogues of** all that I liked most were
I)pehle se behter ho
ii) ......to socha aapko hi ko dhokha dun
and many more ...
**lyrics** the hard hitting title track , the **costumes **and **sets** everything was reminiscent of the lost eraSome realy moving **scenens** worth mention are the stone pelting by soha and zafer and zafer on his fathers deathbed
Despite its slow pace , occasional confusions and cold chemistry between lead actors, the film lures you and why not we can always give the benfit of doubt to the director ....
so go and watch
