For those of you who have seen ’’Anand’’ and ’’Eeshwar’’, if you didn’t cry at the end of those movies, you will certainly do at the end of this one.
The story revolves around a (mentally retarded) rich guy Amar Ranawat(brilliantly played by Himanshu malik) and equally handicapped poor girl Lekha Khorzuvekar(Malika Sherawat). What did you say?He is not supposed to be mentally retarded? But I swear he looked very convincing as mentally retarded guy who has undergone a plastic surgery so that no one can see any kind of emotions on his face.
I think you guys don’t appreciate good talent. Go and watch the movie again with this new perspective. I think Lekha also suffered from the same trauma. It was nice to see to two equally handicapped people fall in love with each other. I think you don’t trust me on the ’’handicapped’’ front. I think you will agree with me once I am done with the story. I think too much.
Now Lekha and Amar meet in a boutique where for some odd reason Amar wants to buy only pyjama and Lekha wants to buy a kurta. But the shopkeeper has it as a set and he can’t sell them separately. You may ask he already knew about Amar’s preferences so why did he show him pyjama’s from a set? Well, its because he has better business sense than you. He was trying to cheat a mentally retarded guy into buying the whole set instead of just the pyjamas. You may count this as evidence enough about Amar’s inability to show intelligence on his face and his inability to process thoughts and think logically as adults and move to different store. Birds of feather get screwed together. So in comes Lekha demanding only kurta. Amar and Lekha start arguing over who is going to pay more. The shopkeeper couldn’t bear the sound of retards fighting over something so trivial and decides to save his salesman from the trauma by offering a solution. Amar and Lekha decide to keep meeting. Amar shares apartment with 3 sensible roommates who are so traumatized with the insurmountable task of putting up with a retard everyday, that they always seem to be hooked on to some kind of booze. Nice directorial touch there. I am sure most people missed that. Lekha on the other hand stays with Ulhas, her father. If I say that he too is retarded you obviously won’t believe me. You would think that I am retarded to think that everyone involved in this movie is. Well what would you call a guy who drinks liquor from a bath mug ?Retard.
Lets get on with the story. So Amar and Lekha hook up and have fun making out under the sun. Amar has a secret desire to be a car racer like Schumacher(s). Being mentally deficient of thinking analytically, he believes winning in a go-kart race will get him into F1. But he is practical. I wish I was. He knows thats not going to happen. I am sure he must have muled over this for ages before coming to that conclusion. Amar’s father wants him to be an MBA. I think he is the only person in the movie who is not retarded. When Amar expresses his desire to marry Lekha, Amar’s father asks him to wait till he gets an MBA and has a job.
Amar not to take things lying down, decides to rebel. But wait what was wrong with the suggestion? Nothing. I guess I have laid your doubts about Amars over empowering retardness to rest. He marries Lekha with the help of Ulhas and leaves his house. Technically, he doesn’t because he never was staying in his house. Remember those junkies who were his roommates? Yes. He used to stay separately. But he does get an apartment to himself now. So much about Amar. Feminists might attack me for not writing about Lekha. There is not much to write about except that she keeps calling Amar ’’sethji’’ and her own father ’’Ulhas’’ and some smooches which are like peck on the lips. Yes, she calls her father by his name. Why? Good question. Go figure. IF you can’t, take the retardness test at https://miretard.com. So happy-go-lucky couple gets married and now its time for some reality show. They have to buy condoms and Mr. R can’t because he is shy. So Mrs R. goes and gets it. She even asks for the differences in quality of various condoms before deciding to take supply for next 3 yrs. Ribbed ones are for your pleasure.
Amar finishes his MBA with help of his wife who teaches music to children to make ends meet. There are some customary fights between the two love birds but lets give them some slack. Even non-retards do that. Amar’s mom visits his wifey in the meantime to strike a humanitarian bond. Both like R. D. Burman. WoW!! Thats so hard to find in people these days. Especially if they are retarded. So after this mom-in-law-daughter-in-law bonding, we move onto next issue in couple’s life. Amar is working fine but doesn’t have time for his wife. Their love life is as good as gone and so has the hap in their happiness. Inspite of various efforts like calling friends for dinner things aren’t improving. So you think why would calling their friends for party put a pep in their life? I think you think too much because you should have realized by now that thinking is taboo here and only people who can think are those who can’t. They decide to have a baby. Yes. But this aint working either. Now some retard is making matters worse for the other. I think there are two for me. Between Amar and Lekha, it’s Lekha who can’t have a baby because has luekemia. Can retards have luekemia? I guess thats because she can’t have brain tumor, in which case she would have had only tumor. So Lekha dies, Ulhas cries, we get fried and Amar goes home with his dad.
Let’s not talk about dialogues, direction. editing, cinematography music and other good stuff because someone told me that you can’t be rude to retards.They promised me 17 smooches and what not. I think one was more than enough for me. If the retards are not comfortable doing it, then how can I be while watching it. The movie is very touching if you care for the characters.Being kind and gentle hearted, I think all of you will. Please do watch this movie. I need company. I don’t want to be the only ignorant fool with pea sized brain who watched this movie. Hey, does this mean I am a retard? Scary.
