I went to watch the movie yesterday evening with a friend who has recently got married. Director R. Balki was the main reason why I went for it. However, I was quite disappointed after watching the movie. Both the leading actors were pretty boring. The mannerisms and body language of Arjun Kapoor clearly appeared a bit tedious throughout the movie. Kareena Kapoor Khan was also nowhere near her best. However, the brief screen presence of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan I thought was a bright spot in the movie, and probably the only bright spot in the movie.
The movie is about a very ambitious careerist and her house husband. So, basically it’s about wife and husband switching their respective roles. Although this is still a relatively rare concept, but it is clearly not a brand new one. Obviously, I expected a lot from a director like R. Balki who is known for his unique creativity. After all, everyone knows how creative and innovative he was with his movie Paa. So, I felt like if there’s a comparison between Balki’s Paa and even his Cheeni Kum, then this movie will surely fall short in terms of quality and the art of storytelling. Finally, the music given by Ankit Tiwari and Ilaiyaraaja clearly failed to impress me. Therefore, for all these reasons, the movie is not worth for recommendation.
