Kick – Salman’s self goal

After the poor box office response of ‘Jai Ho’, I read in one of the media reports that Salman will not do a remake in future but look for an original script. I wish he took it seriously.

The movie is total rubbish and the key characters have made a mockery of themselves with Salman in the lead. The plot, direction and screenplay have all taken a beating and the hype generated for the movie is just a big yawn. Devi Lal Singh(Salman) is a jerk who seeks challenge in life to get a kick in which the audience is really not interested. Jacqueline is Dr. Shaina – a psychiatrist who falls in love with Devi and is introduced to her parents. Devi somehow is shown to be an intelligent Civil Engineer who is unable to hold on to 32 jobs and is challenged to earn money and not be a Ghar Jamai. He disappears for over a year during which time Himanshu Tyagi(Randeep Hooda) is introduced to Dr. Shaina as her suitor. They both share their story in flashback without realizing that they are talking about the same Devi Lal Singh aka Devil who has by now looted Rs.700 Crore from different sources though unconvincingly. Mr. Gajra(Nawazuddin Siddiqui) owns Hospitals but being a miser refuses to donate from his charity and thus becomes one of the victim s of the Devil. Overall, the story is forgettable though it takes you to Poland for a’Fast and Furious’ type nonsensical chase by cops. Salman’s overacting and stereotype performance is a sore. Jacqueline Fernandez looks pale and gives a weary performance. Randeep Hooda as a top cop is wasted.

All the comical scenes are amateurishly shot and most of the jokes fall flat. The songs including Nargis Fakhri’s item number are all mediocre. Not all regional movie remakes become hits unless it has some substance and connects with the national and pan-India crowd. KICK is not even a one- time watch and should be avoided if you really want to enjoy your Eid holidays.
