Not really worth the ransom

Kidnap movie begins with animated frames showing a child going to jail and living a hell like life, once the beginning credits end, you bump into a peppy and naughty song introducing Sonia(Minissha Lamba), who likes to party and is waiting to be together with her dad again, however her mother Mallika Raina( Vidya Malavde) has seperated from him and does not allow her to meet her dad on her birthday, post which Minissha goes missing while she is out to swim, vidya malavde does not even look Minissha’s mother.

The revenge plot somehow gets messy as the film progresses, Sanjay dutt in his role of Vikrant Raina looks rusty and loses his screen presence due to corny dialog’s and screenplay, Kabir Sharma(Imran Khan) who is out to seek revenge on Vikrant raina, seems too innocent looking and does not generate any feeling of he being on some mission with a grit to heal his past wounds.

I liked the cinematography of the movie and actions sequences are of average quality, nothing great, I read in a film magazine that Sanjay Gadhvi wanted to begin his directorial debut with this film along with Yash Raj Banner, however he was forced to make Dhoom twice with a promise to let him make this movie after Dhoom part 1, however after success of Dhoom 1, Yash Raj pushed Sanjay Gadhvi to make Dhoom 2, it seems the director could have had more success with this film before he made dhoom, since the story has good potential however the mind games played between Imran Khan & Sanjay Dutt give you a deja vu feeling of dhoom type story of the rivaly between Abhishek, John & Hrithik.

Minissha lamba surely looks smoking hot in the movie however she does not have much to offer in the movie apart from her frequently visible cleavage and fresh toned body, even vidya malavde was not behind in the cleavage show, this kind of stuff indicates that the director is trying to titillate audiences senses in a wrong way, giving them eye candy treat to divert attention from a poorly treated story.

There are scenes in the movie where you realize that tiff between sanjay dutt and vidya malavde is being shown just for the sake of showing it, hamming by actors is prominent in movie

I would not reveal much of the story plot here since it would kill the interest of the prospective viewer, however as per me movie Zinda potrayed the feeling of revenge and pain very well in characters of John Abraham and Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan could try sticking to lover boy image for his career to take off well, before he starts playing roles of different variety.

For me this movie was like a Jigsaw puzzle which one knows how to solve but still ends up messing the whole thing, some of you may like the movie while some of you may not, it’s still watchable for once
