The May 1st weekend saw us descend upon Kihim beach. We were appalled at the state of the beach, the water was black and had traces of oil. The beach was littered with all possible signs of refuse. A run on the beach only meant oily sand sticking in between the toes. There seemed to be no sign of a lifeguard, considering that there were many people who were adventurous to soak into the grey and rocky waters. If the State spent some funds on the upkeep of this beach, it would indeed be very picturesque. There are certainly far better beaches such as Nagaon or Kashid, where one can truly enjoy a beach holiday.
We stay at Sanidhya, which is approved under MTDC bed & Breakfast scheme. The rooms were comfortable, the food was delicious and homely, a far cry from the commercial staple that is otherwise available. The breakfast though, could certainly be better. Staying at Sanidhya gave a feeling of living in a farmhouse, filled with trees laden with fruits.
