Weekend paradise

Kihim is just the kind of place one would like to go to for a short break. The beach is never too crowded (except on a Sunday). It is situated in Mumbai, around 14 miles from Alibaug district.

The ferry ride is good and less time consuming (70 mins)but only for those who dont experience sea sickness. The ferry rocks madly against the sea and the wind, which can cause the stomach to get pretty upset. Believe me, I get sea sick every time I go. So this time I am trying the road route (2 1/2 hrs).

The best place to stay there are the tents organised by MTDC. The are situated right on the beach. The tents are pretty clean with a fan, bed and steel cupboards with lock and key. The bathrooms, which are common, are very clean too. And the food is amazing!!!!!! You can even request for your choice of cuisine, veg and non-veg both. They have a well equipped kitchen and also a small store where you can buy soft drinks, mineral water etc. The package can cost around Rs 800 to 1200 per head depending on the season inclusive of all meals. It is normally closed during the rainy season.

You can reach this place by taking an auto from the Mandwa jetty which will charge you around 50 bucks(of course depending on the group of people and amount of luggage). It’s a 20 minute journey to the destination.

I believe there are many other attractions around the area which one can explore too.

It’s just the perfect place to unwind. Grab a book, put on some music and sip coconut water while facing the beach. What more do you want?
