People will tell you about great ease, style and features of Kindle but what they will not tell is the zero after sales service provided by Amazon if your Kindle exceeds the warranty period of 1 year. So if in the first year the charging port gets damaged, or the screen gets cracked or the software malfunctions, Amazon will replace it for you.Great! but the moment that first year gets over, Amazon washes its hands off your Rs. 10000 worth investment. Not only they deny any after sales service but also they do not sell the spare parts. So if the screen of that great Kindle paperwhite gets damaged, and you are not in the warranty period, they will euphemistically tell you to throw away that kindle and buy a new one. Whats worst that Amazon being the e-mall of the world, they do not let even non-Amazon versions of the spare parts of Kindle to be sold on its website.(Infact it is next to impossible to find proper spare parts of Kindle on any website). So any malfunction in the product renders it useless.
After searching the net I found that there are several cases where Kindle did not last for even two years. Since it is a delicate, technology product, wear and tear and accidental damage of the product is quite common.
So if you want to read books at a rental of Rs 10000/year, do buy a Kindle.otherwise nothing like the robustness of paperbacks!
