First a story: Rewind to June 1999, the cricket World Cup in England. I was meeting 2 old friends in Bombay in a hotel where one of them had put up and we were going to watch the India-Australia match while having a few beers. Aus. wracked up 280 odd but we had Tendulkar, so went downstairs to a theka to get some beer. The guy didnt have the regular Kingfisher and since Kingfisher stron had just come out, we got plenty of that. By the time we came back India were 17/4, so we switched off the TV and concentrated on the beer.
In a couple of hours none of us could talk straight forget about walking! My first experience with this really strong beer was a disaster, but I still liked the taste.
As far as strong beers go, it is the best in the market. Its got that nice light feel of KF regular with a lot more punch to it, so you have to be careful about how much you have before you get sozzled. There is ample fizz in the beer, which is generally missing from other strong beers.
Its colour also has a light yellowish touch to it as opposed to something like Kalyani and Haywards 5000. But, the best thing I like about it is that the heavy feeling in the tummy after having a strong beer is not there at all.
Best accompaniments with it are some spicy snacks which really goes well with the cold, slightly bitter taste. Its not the best beverage for a quiet drink on an afternoon weekend as it does hit mighty fast. Its more suited for late evenings/nights in a bar when you have a designated driver for the evening. Definetly the best strong beer I have had in India.
