Kismat Konnection

After the "Jab We Met" scenario, whose success I primarily attribute to the media hype on the Shahid - Kareena breakup, Shahid Kapoor, the chocolate boy, became one of my favourite male actors. His uncomparable dance, his flawless performance was indeed a treat to watch.. Making it one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

This made me to decide to watch his near immediate release - "Kismat Konnection". Honestly, I am not that kind of a movie freak who watches the films the first day of the release. I heard the reviews from my friends, colleagues, and family - "It is not that good a movie! Not worth to spend money on..!". It didn’t do well at the box office as well. So, I decided to skip the movie... Until 3 days back when my sister bought this CD from her friend and uploaded on my laptop.. I go "Wow! What a fantastic movie!! Way better than Jab We Met!"

My Review: Introduction:

The Movie is directed by Aziz Mirza, having popular films like Yes Boss, Chalte Chalte under his belt. The movie revolves around a plot wherein Fate i.e; Kismat of the guy is influenced by a girl., so much that without her, no work of his yields a positive result. The star lead is played by Shahid Kapoor and Vidhya Balan(Remember the "Gooood Morningggg Mumbai..!! in Munnabhai -II?). Notable names like Juhi Chawla, Om Puri, Vishal Malhotra make the movie a decent studded array of crew. Excellent story line, great choreography, good songs, mediocre cinematography. It is said to be a remake of Hollywood film, "Just my Luck". It was supposed to be titled "Lucky Charm", but the crew made it the rocking--"Kismat Konnection". I instantly clicked with the name.!

The Story: The story starts with Raj(Shahid Kapoor), the architect; co-starring with Hiten(Vishal Malhotra) who is his friend partner at work. They search for work and finally end up nowhere. They then seem to have no other choice but to consult a fortune teller. Raj meets Juhi Chawla, (who I believe has done a pretty decent job), who fakes him that he will meet find a lucky charm which will open to him, the gateway of good luck and fortune.

The story passes... Raj meets Priya as a stranger.. The situations are really funny and they fight every time they meet. At one time in a party, Raj tries to impress his wanna-work-with boss to get the contract of the latter’s office building project... ending up with a shot at the pool table(billiards). [An amazing stint of thinking by the director here] where he realises that the always-fighting Priya is a luck charm. A girl!! Lucky charm!! What a beat by the fate..

They slowly jell together(don’t ask how.. Find it out yourself!). He finds her to be an orphanage keeper. Circumstances go the way that he unknowingly falls in love with her. He then comes to know she is getting married..!!(A typical bollywood movie). Without her, his life would again be a sore(She is the lucky charm, remember?). The movie has a not-a-new climax, wherein she finds her fiance in objectionable actions with another client of his.. Finally, they meet and their Kismat gets Konnected..

I have really shortened the review, only as I wouldn’t want you to know whats in store when you watch the movie, thereby lessening the fun. The songs are fun, espically the "Aai Pappi".. Makes you get up and dance to the tune of the music and the shakes of Shahid Kapoor are worth admiring..

Genuinely a must watch movie. A bit of loopholes in the cinematography, but easier said than done.! Good comedy, great acting. You could download a pirated version from the Internet, though I stronly recommend you to see it in a DVD, giving you an awesome experience! I will give it a 4/5
