Fate is one thing which can change our life. A moment, a decision, a direction…it can change our life and surrounding. Some call it as luck; some as fate. For one who dont believe in these it is a coincidence. For some it is a mere probability. In any case we write many of our feelings on account of Fate.
Kismat Konnection is a story of two youngsters who met by accident (you may call it fate) and become lucky spots for both. As the name gives a direct hint, the makers tried to give a lighter approach to the theme. It a light entertainer one may watch, keeping your brain at home.
Raj Malhotra (Shahid Kapoor) was best student in his college and winner in many activities. However, Raj could not kick starts his career, due to bad luck which waits to strike him in each turn of events without fail. Raj meet Priya (Vidya Balan) accidentally and from there on Rajs bad luck is reversed and wherever Priya is present Raj gets positive results. Priya is working as a volunteer for a community centre which is threatened of demolition by a construction company where Raj tries to starts his career. Watch the movie to know more about the konnection.
The main thread of the movie is taken from Malayalam super hit Vietnam Colony where the directors (Siddique Lal - who directed the original of Hera Pheri) mixed action with comedy to make it as a huge movie leaving an everlasting impression. In Kismat Konnection, the main thead is kept as it is, however the konnection added and made it as romantic comedy in part.
The movie starts really well and maintains the pace with fun in the entire first half. The second half could not maintain the same pace nor fun where things get serious and the story was not moving. The last 15 minutes however managed to add some emotion and story to salvage the show and made it as an entertainer which one can watch without a heavy heart.
The story/screen play could have been much better, knowing that from where the story thread comes from. Anyways, we have to give due credit to the writers for making the first half rocking. The romance and chemistry between Vidya Balan and Shahid Kapoor pictured beautifully. Scenes with Shahid and Vishal Malhotra were brilliantly shot. So was the frames Om Puri was present.
Shahid Kapoor was quite good in the film. I will not say this is his best performance, but he was competent enough. Vidya Balan was good again but her make up would have been taken care of a bit more. Vishal Malhotra was very good. He is improving his screen presence and performance with each film. Rest of the cast was good.
Music of the movie was matching to the mood. However, there had no songs which we can say very good. The peppy tananataa…tananataa… is the only music I hold with me from the film. There is one female song which got my attention for the mesmeric voice though I could not recollect its https://lyrics. Choreography was ok.
I felt the Cinematography by Binod Pradhan was good in outdoors but not that good in close up shots. The lighting could have been better for a romantic movie given that there is no huge set to support.
The movie got many flows in the script with each step. Even the climax looks an easy compromise. The changes in the script could have been done with a bit more brilliance as Jaane Tu team has done. As things stand the KK team manages to give a decent look but failed to make it as different.
Overall, Kismat Konnection is a light entertainer with comedy & romance which one can watch to relax a weekend. The movies support comes from teenagers and youngsters. They are enjoying the show. After Jaane Tu, this is going to be a youth season for Bollywood.
