Woh Kisna kyon Hai ...?

I ll get to the point straight away....

Reasons not to watch Kisna:

- Vivek Oberoi as warrior poet

Well ... Vivek Fails to relate to the character. It is a larger than life role ... a warrior poet... but he fails to deliver.

He is a poet, but we get to know that only when his friend or catherine asks him to sing a song. Ghai tried to potray him as Lord Kisna...and it looks like a deadly combination : ’’ A flute player who writes poem and then picks the sword for his Karma....Good Idea Mr Ghai !!! But... Vivek fails to deliver and is clearly overshadowed by Antonio (Catherine) in all the scenes.

He looks boyish in most scenes and specially in intense scenes where there is all the dialogue deliver going on he fails to catch your attention. With a better lead... the movie might have done wonders

- Vivek Oberoi as Sunny paaji of Gadar

When Sunny paaji was taking Amisha accross the border and then back round about the same time (August 1947) ... even though the sequence was unreal, it was the ’’Sunny paaji effect’’ and his ’’2.5 kilo ka haath’’ that made the audience appreciate it. But when Vivek tries to take Antonio only to delhi ... he neither has the ’’Sunny paaji effect’’ or the ’’2.5 kilo ka haath’’... but yes one thing is common... sequence was unreal. I really lost the count how many times Vivek and Antonio were seperated only to reunite 5 minutes later.

- Vivek Oberoi as Sashi Kapoor of Deewar

When Vivek and his elder brother played by Yaspal Sharma ( who is anti-british and wants to Kill Antonio ) are fighting Vivek tries to recreate the Amitabh and Shashi Kapoor Magic : ’’ Mere Pass Maa Hai ’’ but again lacks the intensity to make the audience relate to it. Though Yashpal Sharma (Dum, Ab tak Chappan) .. is pretty good.

- A Rubber Band as his better half

Subhash Bhaisahab!!! Why did u cast her in the role of Laxmi ?? Laxmi played by ’’Isha Sharvani’’ is a terrific dancer and has a very flexible body, but I fail to understand why does she dance whenever she is happy, why does she dance whenever she is sad.... and why does she dance the rest of the time. All she does is dance ... dance ... dance !!! She hardly had any role in the movie... I think she shud represent India in Olympics... definitelty she ll get India a Gold medal in Gymnastics.

- Two many charatcers

There are too many ppl specially in the second half and movie becomes a mess. Amrish Puri is wasted in an insignificant role. Same for Om Puri. Yashpal Sharma makes his presence felt.Sushmita Sen plays a Pakeeza Cameo... but she isnt a good dancer... may be Isha and Sushmita cud have switched places

- Woh Kisna kyon Hai?

In the last 15 minutes of the movie Catherine and Laxmi (who are both 60+ now) meet each other. Incidently Kisna had died 5 years ago and it is then when we realise ki ’’woh Kisna kyon Hai’’ !!! Laxmi delivers a boring 15 minute speech highliting the positives of Kisna and why she was stupid to doubt Kisna and Catherine’s Relationship. She goes on endlessly talking about Kisna ka pyar, uska balidan, uski aatmaa...

Reasons to watch Kisna:

- Good Picturization - There are lot frames in the movie which are just beautiful... in fact the whole movie is a eye candy... much better than the picturization of other period films like gadar, Lagaan and Asoka.

- Good Music

- The movie is n times better than Yaadein ( but that doesnot make it good)

Antonio - She has the best role in the movie and comes out with flying colors. She is good in emotional scenes and speaks hindi well, but showing her topless was totally uncalled for.
