The Kite Runner - A must read

Khaled Hosseini’s debut novel takes us into Kabul, Afghanistan where a young motherless boy named Amir’s friendship with a servant boy named Hassan is described. Hassan is a true friend to Amir, loyal to the core. The friendship is described by Hosseini in a brilliant way, emphasizing each and every emotion in the children’s lives.

The glory of Afghanistan before the Russian incursion, the traumatic period during the Russian incursion and the period after the incursion with the Taliban taking over Afghanistan, Hosseini leads us through each stage in vivid detail.

The life of a rich young boy in Afghanistan takes a sudden turn due to the events he witnesses one fine day. One thing leads to another, and as he tries to run away from his agony, it only keeps getting worse for him, until one fateful day he gets his chance at redemption.

A brilliant author, Hosseini’s style of writing is so powerful, that after reading this novel, everything else will seem bland and dull.Be prepared though, because the story-line is so powerful, so passionate and so touching, that you need to keep a tissue box next to you.
