Good One

It is a well written story by Hossini. I picked it up

after it was recommended in TOI book review and thought to try it out. I think

he got some award as well for this book.  It’s a story based out of Afghanistan

& partly in US. Coincidently, it’s the third book I read with a story

around Afghanistan

(Other two were Shantaram, which has a part of the plot set in afgan &

Federik Forsyth’s’The Afgan’).

The plot of this book

is around two boys, one son of a rich afhgan merchant and other one being his

servant( & illegal brother).something seemed like coming from a hindi

movie, specially the revelation that the other boy was illegal brother of the

first one. But I liked the concept of the movie, the insecurities one may have

as a kid and not all kids could be brave enough to stand up for others and that

may certainly pinch then with guilt for a long time.

Overall, a good read for a

lightweight story.
