Its the story of two best friends, Kajal and Kritika, who fall in love with the same guy. Since their childhood, they always had confidence in their friendship- they loved each other, gave sacrifices for each other, protected each other, and shared stuff. Kajal is a middle-class, cultural, simple girl(not very pretty, either), on the contrary, Kritika is a rich, modern, and an beautiful girl.
Samay, a very innocent guy falls in love with Kajal and slowly, even Kajal begins loving him and at the same time, Kritika falls for Samay!
Slowly after many ups and downs, after Kritika finds out that kajal loved Samay-she decides to make the sacrifice of her love, Kajal was set to marry Samay then Kritika’s mother, Malini, realizing how much she loved her daughter; told Kajal the truth about Kritika’s love toward Samay and begged her to break her and Samay’s engagement and leave Samay’s life for good.( while Kajal and Samay were in talk of engagement, Samay’s younger brother, Arjun, poisons Kritika’s mind against Kajal by taking thousand advantages). Kajal’s love for Kritika makes her sacrifice Samay & Samay begins thinking Kajal as a cheat.
Kritika supports and handles Samay in his weak moment and Samay’s mother and aunt gets them married. After a few a days, Samay reads Malini’s journal explaining her asking Kajal about leaving Samay! Samay goes to Kajal but is taken aback and shocked when she makes him promise that he will give Kritika every happiness he can and will not mention her sacrifice to Kritika.
After many incidents of Kritika against Kajal( just some business issues, no real bad stuff), Kajal is plotted to be defamed in the public by Arjun and his best friend, Kushal(Kajal’s boss!). Kajal is headlined to have an affair with Arjun, so her father suffers a heart-attack. Arjun’s father, Manmeet is embarrassed at Arjun’s actions and threatnes Arjun that he will exclude him from his will if he doesn’t marry Kajal. Kajal overhears Kushal and Arjun discussing how miserable kajal’s life will be after she marries him.
Shocked by such a betryal from Kushal, Kajal’s family’s struggles begin hallucinating before her and she decides to backfire Arjun’s plan and make his life miserable instead by marrying him!( sounds crazy, doesn’t it?)
In the last episode on June 12, 2004, she gets married to Arjun.
-Reason why the soap was a disaster-
In the birth of this soap, they keep on showing how strong Kajal and Kritika’s relation was(which wasn’t all that interesting to watch regularly).
The story actually has just begun now by Kajal marring Arjun.
-Note-
This review made it sound like Kajal is the main character, but in reality, Kajal and Kritika are both the main character. Also, the review may have sounded like Kritika is a bad person but she is only misleaded by Arjun, Neetu( Arjun and Samay’s Mom) and Anjala( Arjun and Samay’s aunt).
-Another soap you can compare Koi dil mein hai with-
Kutumb- because two people marry each other to take revenge from each other in that soap, too, but in this story the male character, Arjun is totally bad unlike Pratham in Kutumb, plus there’s a complete different background story to it.
