Cheat people in the name of vehicle servicing

KLN motors in Chennai is one where you are cheated royally in the name of vehicle service. I met with a small accident in which the tail lamp and the front door on one side was damaged. For repairs, I took my vehicle to their Ekkaduthangal branch where a person named Mr Karthikeyan inspected my vehicle.


When I informed that I would like to claim the expenses through insurance, he seemed to be more interested in just collecting my documents. He told me he would take care and get the door repainted. As my vehicle was only 6-months old, I was very keen in preserving the original status of the vehicle, but at the same time I did not want it to get rusted, and so when I was told that the only way to prevent rusting is to get it repainted, I agreed to it. There was a minor scratch on the rear door too, for which I was told that touch up cannot be done and even that required the complete door painting. Well, I agreed to it and left the vehicle with them for the required work.


As these people have the body work division at Ambattur, my vehicle was transferred to Ambattur workshop by KLN motors itself. Initially I was told that the task would be completed in 5-days, and later after 5-days I was informed that the tail lamp was not in stock and so, if I wish, I could take the vehicle for a few days and get it back to them when they received the tail lamp. I was skeptical about the chances of getting the lamp replaced within stipulated time period, and so I told them that I would be picking up the vehicle only after everything is completed. After 10-days, when I went to collect the car, I was shocked to see a new deep scratch on the rear body of the car whcih they had tried covering up with touch up. When I enquirer about it, I was told its nothing, just some paint, it will be taken care.


Now the catch here is the vehicle was parked in the hot bright sun for inspection, where you can hardly stand for a minute and check the vehicle. My movement was very much getting affected without the vehicle, and also, I knew that arguing with them over there would lead to nothing, I collected the vehicle and decided to pursue the matter with higher authorities. Also, I cleared my bills.


As if this was not enough, when I was cleaning the vehicle at home the next day, I was shocked to see that these guys had given new scratches at many places in my car, the site of which clearly indicated that they developed during their working. The biggest surprise came to me when I realized that the rear door which these people in the beginning refused for a touch up, was really done a touch-up and no complete door painting. OH MY GOD!!


I started calling their both the workshops, and from both the places, the managers took my number and said they would check the inventories and call me. But, what my claim is when I had the work done through insurance, and if the big, deep scratch on the same side rear end existed before, I would have got that too rectified in one claim. Only because it was not there, I never asked for it. The door which hardly had any visible scratch, was suggested for painting, and that too was not done but was charged to my insurer.


Now, I am trying my best to get the complete problem solved by approaching the higher authorities at KLN motors and also GM Motors India. If I am not helped by them, I may proceed to consumer court. Does anyone have any suggestions, how shall I proceed in this circumstance and get my problem attended?? Suggestions and help is very much appreciated.
