Hi All,
I visited kodai kanal recently with my wife and want to share some experiences about the town here. We were travelling from chennai and its a 12 hr journey. We can reach kodai kanal thru train and there are bus facilities as well. There are lot of trains but not directly to kodaikanal. The nearest trailway station for Kodaikanal is KODAI ROAD, its arnd 35 kms from kodaikanal(takes 2 hrs from kodai road-kodai kanal as its uphill). The next nearest station is Madurai, arnd 80kms and 4 hrs journey to kodai kanal. We preffered bus journey as we have a direct AC sleeper bus to Kodaikanal from chennai, Thanks to KPN travels. We got the bus by 7.45 pm and we were there in kodaikanal by morning 6 AM.
We booked a deluxe room in APPLE VALLEY RESORT thru net and its quite good. The rooms are good, the room service is really good and the hotel is very new, so its clean. But the room fare is little on the higher side. The hotel is near to Coakers Walk and bus stand.
There is another resort by name Kodai Resorts.we found that its the best place to stay in kodai kanal. But getting accomodation there is little difficult.better to buk 2 weeks in advance .
There are some good places to see in kodai kanal but u dnt need more than a day or 2 to cover all the places.May be bcoz its in the month of june with summer still at its peak in south india, we really felt like kodai kanal is one time watch.it can be a good weekend gateway but not the best place for honeymoon couples.
