Heres one camera that lists at an MRP (Maximum Retail Price) of INR 33, 900/- but can be easily haggled down to INR 25, 000/- or even lesser now I believe in official Kodak Stores with Bill and 1 year Warranty.
I would seriously recomend this higher end camera for Photography enthusiasts who love to tinker around with zoom and get real up and close with those warts on your face.(embarassing)
Dont mistake this for a professional camera-But it does give the budding amateur a professional feel and look.
Its one of the few that come with 5 megapixels resolution (translate that into a great image quality that can be blown up to portrait sized heirloom images)
It boasts of 10X optical zoom. Optical zoom means the picture actually comes 10 times closer to you compared to a digital zoom which in effect only zooms into the picture and gets pixelated (grainy image) if you have a low resolution camera (anything less than 3 megapixels) This option is great for sitting in the comfort of your home and zooming into an interesting looking bird perched atop that electric pole. Or zooming into the cleavage of that interesting gal sitting across the College canteen.(Wishful thinking)
It also has a 3X advanced digital zoom feature that allows you to blow up those mole hills into mountains (warts)
Comes with a Schneider-Kreusnach Variogon lens (whatever that is supposed to mean) Frankly I have only heard of Carl-Zeiss thanks to Sony CyberShot fame.
Has a 5.6 cm display (good enough to discern warts from moles and pimples from dimples.)
Loaded with a measly 32 mb card that is really not enough for even a couple of dozen 5 megapixel images.
Also supports a VGA audio and video clip feature - slightly jerky but if you have a steady hand and can pan across a Monsoon Wedding you can comfortably preserve some memorable moments for posterity (even Jenifer Lo kind posteriors)
Useful part is the Kodak Science chip embedded that can result in true to life colour pictures when you view them on your computer screens and ask for a hard copy printout of your favourite images at any Kodak shop (Just INR 6/- for a 4x6 printout)
Also compatible with the Kodak Dock which is another 4 grand (and also helps you charge your spent Kodak batteries) - You are better off just getting your select images printed out at just 6 bucks..in these days of digital image sharing and storing who takes printouts ? Try https://imageshack.com, https://shutterfly.com, https://gfoto.com, yahoophotos.com, and the best of the lot https://picasa.com
Which one did I buy..Dont ask..I am still tearing my hair out !
Also check out the slick and sleek looking Kodak LS 753 - great buy at around INR 15, 000 (MRP is INR 23, 900/-)
Happy shooting - Ducks, Quack, Quack !
