Koffee with karan is a show I never miss. It was wonderful watching esha on the may 6 episode and then watching her mom on may 13 episode. Well, I found both mother and daughter absolutely grounded, completely at ease with who they were and minus any indication of the starry tantrums.
When Esha was asked what body part she would like to change, she could have been diplomatic and said: ’’Why? Nothing at all! But what she said was, ’’Bahut kuchh badal diya, ab kuchh nahi badalna! Quite similar was the attitude of Hema Malini. When asked ’’What was your take on rumours in the media about your link-ups’’ the graceful pretty face said, ’’The media was never unfair to me coz whatever it wrote was true!’’
And like any other mom in the world, Hema Malini sounded as real when she said she did not like esha’s habit of getting up late and that she has taught both daughters tamil. For once this megastar of yesteryears sounded as considerate as any mom when she said: ’’Esha asked me, if you and papa can pursue your career, why can’t I? Dharamji had no answer.’’
She even said that unlike in her days where she never exposed, Esha has no choice. But wanted her daughter to be alert about camera angles and the way she was being shot.
I think it is this stong connection with one’s roots and value system that keeps both Hema and daughter Esha stay in touch with the real world of the common man. The graceful mom has passed on all her qualities to Esha.
With a wonderful sense of humour, both mom and daughter were really a pleasure to watch.
