To best of my knowledge, koi mil gaya is first commercial science fiction movie, and hey hats of to it, and cheers to rakesh roshan to again take risk and come out with flying colours.
Rakesh roshan has been well known to take a risk, and also known for his movie tittles always starting with ?k?. Well here is another k title and a big risk, but which comes out with stunning results.
Koi mil Gaya, yes a sci-fi family entertainer. Saying family entertainer and sci-fi in same breath is funny but this is what rakesh roshan has done, and that?s why this movie is such a big hit.
What makes this movie such a big hit, lets find out
Story is loosely based on Stephen Spielberg?s E.T, a tried and test story of human emotion. Koi mil Gaya same as ET has many kids at the central character, and yes hrithik roshan as mentally challenged person, who has grown body wise but not mind wise.
Story is simple, aliens visit earth get scared by elephants, so they run for their life and forget an alien buddy on earth also know as jadoo in the film. Jadoo is befriended by hrithik and his gang of buddies, things are jolly good until, police wants to capture jadoo and, hrithik has to save him by sending him home, yes in the end he is successful, and jadoo gives hrithik a gift.
Acting is brilliant by many of the actors, and some are worth mentioning like:
Hrithik roshan is brilliant, mainly more then his acting, the make-up and dress artist have done an excellent job. Because its stunning to see the difference between the mad hrithik and the smart hrithik in the movie. Mad hrithik is slightly thinner looks stupid. But smart hrithik looks bulky and girls would die for that look. Due to brilliant make up and dress it has been easier for hrithik to come out with really good acting
The rest cat has done amazing job, mainly to name a few, pretty zenita etc
Direction is one thing that could make or break the movie, direction is brilliant, special effects the heart of aliens in this movie where quiet good not in the American standards but for a first try a definitely brilliant. Must give high recommendation to the director, is he the unofficial Indian Spielberg
All in all, a very good movie. A must watch.
No doubt it may not compare to Hollywood standards but its genuine attempt at ET. And must say not bad not bad at all.
I hope this opens the science fiction genre in the bollywood too.
